Tremendously Valuable Resource
Johnson and Clark masterfully capture the beauty of Christ and his work of salvation that began with the incarnation. In 8 chapters they address some of the most important and sometimes forgotten Christological truths. Their content is deeply rooted in Scripture, and they helpfully reinforce their points by appealing to various church figures—from the early church fathers, to Luther and Calvin, to Edwards and T.F. Torrance. At a time where evangelical Christianity is loosening its theological core and tradition, Johnson and Clark present a tremendously valuable resource that point us back to the riches of Christ and his work of redemption. Moreover, they wonderfully connect Christ’s work to his bride, the Church, and offer essential ecclesiological insights.I would highly recommend this book and suggest you chew slowly on it’s deep and powerful content. I pray this book would delight you in the beauty of Jesus Christ.

gloriously and passionately solid orthodoxy
Fresh, awe-inspiring, life-changing depth theology that resists the allure of novelty. Christ is exalted as our infinite treasure and the beginning, center, and end of all things, including ME. The authors are widely read and well-grounded in the scriptures and the best of Christian tradition. Surely they will expand and deepen your knowledge of our inexhaustible Christ. This book is academically brilliant but their goal is not academic. They exalt Christ in a way that is life-transforming and simply glorious.

One of the best I've read on Christology
Christology is my favorite subject to study, and has been for years. It began with John Owen and moved on to Calvin, Edwards, Warfield, and so on. I'm always looking for books in this field, and it seems rare to find in contemporary authors the theological richness, intellectual stimulation, and heart-moving expression that the old authors possessed. But this volume was a wonderful surprise to me. It is thorough, and it's expression is beautiful and very admirable. At the same time it is lucid and accessible for theologians at all stages of life. Above all, it is a well-needed display of the Incarnation of our Lord and the glorious results of it in the avenues Evangelical theology. The chapter on Jesus as the Mediator of "the knowledge of God" (as well as "salvation") was so refreshing, and it seems it is needed in the church today. If you've taken Systematic Theology courses, don't assume that this book would be a repeat for you. In my opinion this goes deeper, and does better than a lot of Christology today.I think this book can bring sweet fruit to the ministry of any pastor and theologian, as well as make Jesus more glorious to them personally. If you love to study and meditate on Jesus, and if you are often hungry for the richness you find in the older authors, I would recommend this book. As of this point in my life, I personally would put this next to Torrance, Calvin, and Owen on this essential subject of the Person of Christ and it's bearings on our redemption.

This book was helpful in many ways. The authors attempt to round out Evangelical theology that tends to emphasize Christ's death and has missed much of the mystery of his Incarnation. For example, I normally think of Jesus revealing the knowledge of God by demonstrating what God is like, but chapter two shows that Jesus reveals God by causing us to participate in his very own relationship with God. Chapter four argues the view popularized by Barth and Torrance that Christ assumed a fallen rather than an unfallen nature. Many of the books arguments are strong, but I was sometimes frustrated reading because I felt that the authors regularly overstated their case and used straw man arguments. That aside, I am thankful to better understand the centrality of Incarnation in my faith.

Evangelical Theology at its Finest
This work may yet prove to be the most important theological study for evangelicals today. Tragically, there are many ways in which the Church forgets herself without knowing it; this work is a timely and beautiful recovery of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, God with us, for the Church today––rooted in biblical witness and the confession of the Church historic. I eagerly recommend it to all and trust it will remain of great benefit of the Church for years to come. Please, dear brothers and sisters, read this book; this truly is evangelical theology at its finest.

Very good read!
Excellent book for the one with time to really contemplate. My hubby loved this book and gave one to our pastor. Not for the speed reader but for the one who thinks deeply.

Great going into the Gospel
This book was a great encouragement and used to help me grow deeper in the Gospel, better understanding reality in CHRIST. Especially living in a Muslim nation this summer, it was such a great reminder of how central to reality the incarnation and Triunity of GOD is

A superb work about incarnation of God. Clark and ...
A superb work about incarnation of God.Clark and Johnson explore different aspects of incarnation of Christ and consequences of this incarnation on everything we have in theology. This book isn't denominational. It is biblical and this is the most important when we approach to the question about personal salvation and atonement through incarnated Christ Jesus.

Beautifully worded Theology that causes you to worship!
I've never read a Theological book that was so beautifully written that it caused one's soul to soar as you read. Countless times I was stopped in my tracks as I read, simply to re-read a phrase, meditate on it, and worship God. The doctrine of the Incarnation is well expounded on, but not merely in a rational way, but by making beautiful connections to the whole life of the Christian, and the purposes of God. One of the few books that I can read over and over and over again.
