MY PROJECTWhere do I start? My project list is never ending and it seems all of them include my caulk gun in one way or another. I chose this latest formulation from GE to caulk around a large octagonal window in my shower wall, a window that’s exposed to water from both sides. The choice of a sealant is critical, this is a job that cannot leak, and is exposed to hot water daily from inside and blazing hot southern exposure sun from the outside. My choice of what caulk to use has to be right the first time.EASE OF USEI don’t think there has been any change to caulk tubes or the mechanical caulk guns they are used with since I was a child. It’s hard to believe any homeowner doesn’t own the proper equipment and has used dozens of tubes of the stuff on DYI projects over the years. There is absolutely nothing different about this product, just what’s inside the tube. Any observations about ease of use are fully dependent on the user’s skill level.DURABILITYI was amused by one comment stating definitively that it will crack if used outdoors. Of course this is pure conjecture, no one knows how a brand new formulation of a product like this will perform a year from now much less thirty years from now which is how long GE guarantees it for. There are so many variables when using caulk my best advice is that if you don’t know what you’re doing you should call in a professional.VALUEBecause we will never know how long any caulk will last once installed the only two things we can know for sure are what the price per tube is and how much we can trust the maker. I will never try to save a few pennies by going with an off brand for something as important as protecting my home and GE is one of two or three brands that have my complete trust. Consider these opinions but I won’t recommend something like this yay or nay - using the right caulk is too important to rely on someone else’s opinion.

As I’ve mentioned before, we are have had some renovations/construction done on our house. My husband has been doing some himself, as well as fixing some “mistakes” made by the contractor. This caulk came to me at a good time, so I took it. We needed to caulk around some windows, and then we needed to paint. My husband said the caulk dried pretty quickly, even quicker than he thought it would. He said the caulk also was easy to work with, and he was surprised the odor wasn’t bad at all (and he would notice as smells really get to him). He was able to paint over it, and the paint did well. He was impressed with this caulk so I highly recommend it!
