THEY WORK

I've been using Rainbird 1800 sprinklers for a year or two. They work fairly well, but I had two issues with them. First, as the summer gets hotter, the spray pattern leaves about a foot in front of the sprinkler head unwatered, resulting in brown spots right by the head. Second, the nozzle rim that directs the water spray likes to chip due to the force with which it is retracted after each watering session. The chipped heads then spray erratically, again leading to spots the brown due to lack of water.So, enter the Orbit sprinkler. It looks to be as well made as the Rainbird and it has two features which are solving my problems. The spray head is brass! Should last forever and won't chip. Also, these have a dual spray nozzle, so they direct a portion of the water downward to the front of the head to prevent or at least lessen the brown spots right in front of the head itself. Brilliant!I'll also note that these seem to throw the water just a bit further than the Rainbird's did, in my case that's good, but if not for your system there is a brass screw that you can turn clockwise to reduce the throw somewhat.I fully recommend these heads, and Amazon has a great add-on price for them at the time I write this review.
