Q: Does the carrying case have a belt loop?

Yes it does have a belt loop on the cloth carrying case, The cas e has a velcro closure and also a neck lanyard. The thing works easily -- I don't know how lon the battery will last or how to recharge it if it can be recharged An a recent clinical visit I compared the reading on my devise with the reading the clinical technician got on her "professional" finger reader and there was only one percentage reading lower on O2 saturation on my device compared to the clinician's. I'm pleased so far with the performance.

Q: Can this device's pleth wave forms determine an accurate respirarory rate?

No wave form. It dose not give a respiratory rate just oxygen saturation. Hope this helps
