These are not cheap so I purchased one to see how good it was. Getting to old to get on roof all the time so was hoping these would reduce the number of times in cleaning out the gutter. Just can not see the gutter caps that you can get would working for me, expect the holes would just clog up causing rain to run over. Debre from cedar trees can be very small but knew the filter would catch it.That said I'm finding based on the debre from my ceder trees I will have to keep a close eye on the rain harvester based on the amount of debre I'm getting. I've had to empty it several times in the past few weeks...After deciding to get 6 more they had increased the price by 10 dollars per unit.Now I have two installed it endedup hailed which caused it to fill up the filter and it backup causing water to over flowed the gutter with a lot of water and every joint in the downspout was leaking. I had to run out barefoot emptying the filter several times and having to hit the downspout to unclog it. Water even started to eroded ground around the fondation. Now wonder what to do. I liked it up to this point..... Luckily I went out when I did but if I had the other 5 installed some are in areas that would have been much worse regarding erosion.Now do I return the 5 I've not installed yet or worry any timeit hails....

I tried the Leaf Eater Ultra first and it worked great. Unfortunately, I installed it at the drain pipe right by my front door. Since the Ultra sheds leafs out the front, it left a mess right in front of the door. I bought the Slimline to replace it and move the Ultra to a different downspout. The Slimline worked great util we had a very heavy rain. The force of the rain was so strong, it blew the removable cartridge out and it fell on the ground and cracked in several places. The little tab that holds it in is not strong enough. They need to add a bungee strap or something to better retail the cartridge. If you use the Slimline, add something to keep it secure. If you use the Ultra, make sure you don't use it close to a door or pathway.
