No-nonsense informative guide to Hawaii
I am planning a family trip to Hawaii - since this is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, I wanted to make sure I got the best vacation for my money. It seems like this book is geared towards low to mid budget vacations which can certainly help the old pocketbook.I like the layout of the book, and the chapters are organized well. They provide detailed information but also some very helpful tips. I marked it down 1-star because the print is light, small and difficult to read unless you are in bright light.I used to rely on Frommer's or Fodor's but have recently moved to Lonely Planet series for their no-nonsense informative guides.

Very Good Overview for Hawaii visitors, especially backpackers.
Lonely Planet, as always, is lovely and informative. However, if you're visiting particular islands, it may do you good to get books for those islands specifically, as each one is unique in its own way. Also: I used Lonely Planet for years in my 20s for every journey I took, but now I'm in my 40s, I realize that it's geared for the backpacker set--useful for anyone, but particularly those on this kind of budget. I'll still be buying Lonely Planet books for my future travels, but as a supplement to other guides.

Good if you want to see what multiple islands have to offer.
I received my copy of Lonely Planet Hawaii and have to admit that I was disappointed; I'd searched for a travel guide for Hawaii and Big Island saw this one as part of the listing. Getting it I was excited until I opened it up and realized that it covered all the islands, the Big Island was only one small section, augh! Ok, not what I was totally looking for but it's what I got. The print is small with limited pictures further detracting from it. That said there is a fair amount of information on the Big Island and it will help with identifying places to go and things to see while visiting there, just not what I really wanted.

Good for beginning a trip
Great book. However, this book is somewhat dated. We used this book in conjunction with online reviews and had a blast. Make sure to compare notes with online though. Used in Oahu, the Big Island, and Maui!

Lonely Planet is always excellent - and just for the pictures
Lonely Planet is always excellent - and just for the pictures, it's worth the price.Have been to Hawaii - don't do it as part of a cruise. Land on the islands, drive all over, take the little planes between the islands. The Hawaiian people are wonderful, and they OWN their land!!They make tourists feel that they are home and very welcome.

Excellent book for A trip to Hawaii!
I would highly recommend this book if you are looking to travel to Hawaii! It wa as perfect resource for researching stuff to do before our trip. But it was also an asset while on the trip for finding random things to do during the day and day trips to take last minute. So any great suggestions and reviews!
