Fantastic inspiration for a young artist.
My 5 year old really liked this, and I'm getting it as a gift for a 8 year old to read on their own. Simple illustrations, so we'll supplement that with photos of her actual artwork. But great story of her life that gives a child-appropriate light hand to some of the heavier aspects of her mental health

Great book!
I got this book for my Art classroom and my students loved it! Great for teaching elementary age children about Yayoi Kusama. Mid length read, but still quick enough for young kids. Language/vocabulary is easy for them to understand. Really cool yet simple illustrations, and an amazing addition to my Art room library! (A perfect fit for our “Dot Day” lessons too.)

Not what I expected
Beautiful illustrations, but the story is a bit self-promoting for my taste. It is not really a kid's story. The book did not fit the need as a gift.

Story fine, but book black & white w/little actual art
Got this book for a 4 year old, who enjoyed it and the text is a fine age-appropriate tale of Kusama’s story. But as an adult who’s a fan of the artist, I was disappointed that the book is almost completely black and white with only one picture of Kusama’s actual artwork. The illustrations are unique but don’t really capture the art well. I’ll be seeking out another book that can better demonstrate the beauty of Yayoi Kusama’s art.

A little heavy for a kid.
I like it - because I like illustrated books and Yayoi Kusama. I gave it as a baby gift, along with some polka dot pyjamas and I'm pleased with the quality and content. Disappointed that it brushed over the some of the most interesting aspects of the artist's life. And I do find it very wordy for a kid's book with next to no cover. Suspect it is suited for an older child. Still cool though. ;)

A hit in our household
This our second Yayoi book and they utterly enjoy it. I also recommend the one on Yves Klein.

Es un librito para niños
La verdad pensaba que era un libro para adultos. Aún siendo para niños, no vale la pena … son dibujos ni siquiera se muestra alguna fotografía de la obra de la artista.

Libro in bianco e nero
Essendo il libro di un'artista che usa moltissimi colori, pensavo che il libro sarebbe stato altrettanto, invece è tutto in bianco e nero :(
