The History of Ec Comics

I ordered this book as soon as I had some $ available(+175.00, but worth every penny),and although there was a "hiccup" with Amazon,they made things right. I still haven't opened it up(It comes in a beautiful box using Weird Fantasy #21's beautiful Al Williamson/Frank Frazetta cover(same as on the dust jacket. (I'll do it soon..Don't rush me. Lol). I'm basing this review on what I've seen on youtube ,and it looks to be a spectacular book. The only possible drawback is a double-edged sword is the size,which is breathtaking beautiful to look at, but the weight makes it a bit unwieldy(I've joked there should be an official History Of EC Comics Hernia Belt available to accompany the book. What it boils down to is If you love the old EC Comics,and can spare 200.00,then this is the book for you.

A massive book of enormous size and weight. It would make a very good blunt instrument if needed as a handy object to bash somebody on the head. it is chock full of EC lore, and it will take months to read it from cover to cover.

Mixed emotions. First off, the layouts inside are a missed opportunity. So many pages with wasted space ( half a page of white) and then others with micro pictures of the covers, also the coloring and resolution of many covers and pages seems off. The great images, covers we know and love are small and not shown in the large format layouts that the lesser covers are. The spine of the book is confused .I can’t show this to anyone to show them why EC is great. It seems like the covers with no impact were chosen as the big plates in the book. Strange . Bottom line: get it as a completist but this is not the go to EC book it should be . Visually cluttered presentation is the impression I am left with.

Everything and anything EC! This book encompasses the entirety of Entertaining Comics, its beginnings, its gory...er I mean glory, its decline and is fall. No collector of EC comic books should do without this amazing volume.

Holy Cow! What an amazing piece of art this book is. Words can’t describe the shear volume or staggering amount of detail that went into this thing. Just fantastic and quite literally, is the biggest book I have ever seen! Get one before other are all gone!

This book is a masterpiece. It's worth every cent. Don't hesitate to buy if you're an EC fan. Only 5,000 made! This book will soon be a rarity.

This is everything you'd want it to be - gorgeous printing, huge, great text and history by Geissman, filled with great information and stories, and above all it's chockfull of breathtaking images, some never before seen. The color reproduction is fantastic. This is now one of my favorites of this kind of huge Taschen thing. If you've ever read an EC comic, if you were ever a MAD Magazine FANatic, if you ever panicked because you missed an issue of Panic, or if you just want to read and see the amazing history of EC, this is the book for you. You'll want to clear a couple of weeks to go through it, devour every word and picture, and then I guarantee you you'll do just what I've been doing: Going page by page just to gaze at the incredible covers, the rare images, the story pages from the comics, all of it. It's a virtual treasure trove of EC and a must-have for anyone who cares about the history of comic books.For those of us who grew up with EC and especially MAD, this is such a wondrous trip down memory lane. There are a few books about EC, some even written by Geissman, but this is the mother of them all, so buy it now, baby. What, you worry?

Lo mas destacable es sin duda su edición de lujo. Papel de alto gramaje, gran formato y presentación. Ahí acaba las buenas noticias. El contenido es mas bien de escaso interés. La gran mayoría de lo publicado, los fans de EC, lo hemos visto mil veces. Escaso arte original , e imperdonable, la galería de portadas, en miniatura en un libro de formato gigante. El precio de venta, no es honesto, con el contenido ofrecido al lector., por este precio, los Artist Edition de IDW dedicado a los autores de EC comics, te proporcionara mayor satisfacción.

first off, beautiful book. but this sucker is huge! bigger than my Rand McNally world atlas! TOO BIG for any of my bookshelves. nearly 5000 books, plus 3000 comics, and I have to leave it sitting on top of shelving unit of boardgames because it is simply too big.and also, I think, due to its size, the slipcase is just a box with the cover are drawn on the sides. kind of a disappointment. I own a few other Taschen books, they are more normal sized, and so I guess I expected this to follow the Golden age of DC comics, etc.other than that, gorgeous. so much original art shown, so many covers, and stories from the original people who did this. very cool

Wie gewohnt von Taschen: das Buch übertraf meine Erwartungen bei Weitem.Überraschend die Tatsache dass es nur in einer Auflage von 5000 Stück produziert wurde.Zwar fehlt dieses Mal das kleine Heftchen mit der deutschen Übersetzung, aber man hat sich wohl zu Recht gedacht: wer die EC Comics lesen kann, wird auch mit diesem Text ( der übrigens sehr ausführlich alle Phasen der EC Comics chronologisch behandelt) keine Schwierigkeiten haben.Ein Buch, dass gut mithalten kann mit den beiden Büchern "75 Years Of DC Comics" und "75 Years Of Marvel".

This is a really unique book, full of covers, original art, stories, etc.It's a great collector's piece. The only thing that is "bad" about it, is that Taschen chose to make the cardboard box it comes in as greyscale, which is different compared to other XXL Taschen books that I own. Not sure if it's a conscious choice or for the sake of cost. In any case, the book itself is fantastic.

This is a beautiful book that arrived in perfect condition. A collector’s item for people interested in the history of comics. Thanks Amazon!
