Coaching Youth Football: What Soccer Coaches Can Learn From The Professional Game (Soccer Coaching)

Top, top coaching resource!
Just finished my first read through (I'm sure there will be more) and all I can say is it feels like my brain has been crowbarred open. Loved Making the ball roll and the Deliberate practice series but this one has opened me up to all new levels of learning and curiosity to improve my coaching. So many topics covered and a lot around the 4 corners. My take from the book which was a lot like my Level 2 is it focuses on coaching the human first, footballer second. Loved the real life examples at the end of each chapter and references to different books and data analyses which has taken my thirst for learning in all different directions. Definitely a book to make you think differently about the game and how you coach. Highly recommended!

An utterly fantastic, insightful and thought-provoking book
Genuinely, the best football coaching book I have ever read. So much to take away and internally debate for all age groups and across all ability levels. The organisation of the book, split in to digestible chapters, accompanied by quotes linked to the discussed topics made this book an engaging reference to read. Something for everyone here and, as a coach and chairman of a grassroots club, it was well worth the money.

Thought provoking as ever
Read it already. Found myself with a bit of time on my hands 😂Some really good detailed points on the individual parts, I’ll take away. Wish I’d read it before my Uefa B. But definitely will put in to players IDP. Also some really good points to make me think in game about moving the odd player around to negate or create advantages. Always thought provoking as ever.

Top Quality Book
Having loved ‘Making the ball roll’, couldn’t wait to get stuck into this. About 100 pages in, and as expected, loads of amazing information and coaching insights, from top coaches around the world. Looking forward to finishing it, would recommend this to any coach working within youth football. It will not only benefit the coach them self, but massively help your players 👍🏻

Awesome book and a great follow up to ‘making the ball roll’
Awesome book, couldn’t stop reading once I started and each chapter covers a key and relevant topic. Ideal for both new and experienced coaches and for those coaching grassroots or academy. A great follow up to the equally brilliant ‘making the ball roll’. 👍

A Triumph
Another triumph from the author. If you coach and haven't read any of his books you are missing out, especially his series of coaching session books. This book is thought provoking. Especially the chapter on winning at all costs, rather than development.

I've learned a lot with this book
Excelent book, oriented for the human behavior side of coaching. I found it a valuable read for all those interested in developing skills for team building and management; good thoughts for fields of activity other than football.
