2008 Jeep Wrangler JK hardwire
The media could not be loaded. Decided to hardwire to keep trailer hitch harness open. There was plenty of wire & mesh wiring loom provided for either install option (trailer harness or hardwire). The total length was at least 10ft. I took my time figuring out which wires were the correct ones to tap into. I realize not all vehicle wiring colors are the same but hopefully it helps somebody (see pic). I reconnected the spliced light wiring harness wires using Self-Solder Heat Shrink Butt Connector Solder Sleeves (link below). I tapped into Jeep wiring from inside the trunk cargo bay immediately above the tail lights, underneath the carpeting. I used Nilight Quick Splice Wire Terminals T-Tap Self-stripping with Nylon Fully Insulated Male Quick Disconnects (link below). I concealed the yellow (left turn signal) wire from the light harness by tucking underneath the rubber tailgate seal strip inside the trunk and secured it every couple of feet with a piece of black electrical tape. Thankfully, I did not need to use the blue "error cancel" wire and simply left it unused in the mesh wiring loom. All wires with exception to left turn signal were tapped into the right (passenger) side. For exterior wires, I wrapped exposed wiring with black electrical tape. My Jeep gets dirty and I didn't want to deal with the mesh wiring loom getting caked in mud/debris and/or deteriorating. I did use the mesh wiring loom for the wiring inside the Jeep to keep wires nice and neat. Overall, I really like this light. It's super bright and the trailing turn signal effect is cool. I simultaneously upgraded my spare tire holder to accommodate my spare 35" tire. In doing so, I had to remove the stock 3rd brake light and didn't want to reuse it. Looked for other options and came across this. Time will tell how it holds up, but impressed thus far.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073RMRCC3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailshttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CP987BN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

It could've been 5 Starts, but
The device is functional, and the lights are lovely. The available video and the installation instructions are terrible. If you use the towing plug, it takes more than 3–4 hours—not 15 minutes. The reverse wire must still be connected to the passenger rear light, and you must identify which wire it is. Both XKGLOW and Jeep alter their wiring every year, and neither one of them gives a good description of the wire colors. The video uses no sound and most of the time you only see the two guys back not knowing what they doing.I would assume that XKGlow would spend more time drafting some decent instructions since they actually wanted to promote and sell their product. Even when I had the towing package, you still need to cut the plug off to feed the wires all the way to towing plug, then solder them again., this could have been easier if the connectors close to the towing plug. Also, the provided lights plug did not fit My 2018 wrangler JL towing receptacle and I had to shave through the plug mold plastic to get it to fit.My lights came with a very short blue loose and long white wire that nowhere mentioned in the manual and the videos shows different color instead of white color and nothing about the blue wire. when contacted XKGLOW, I received the following information:The white wire is to engage the reverse function. You would need to tap into your factory reverse wire. The blue wire will only be used in the event if the 5th wheel light flickers or throws weird error codes on your dash. You would splice into that wire and then run it to a constant 12v source such as the positive battery terminal. Also, the reverse light sequence is not mentioned anywhere but is explained below from XKGLOW: As far as the function of the reverse light, if your headlights or DRL's are on then it will be staggered rings of white and red LEDs. Only if the headlights and DRL's are off will it do only the white LEDs.As for the 2018 JL wrangler with towing package, the right passenger light wire color for reverse is orange at the socket but is different color on the harness, so just follow the socket orange color wire pin and match it with color on the harness.

Love this light!
Makes my (Jeep) rear end more noticeable so hopefully it will reduce chances of being rear ended. The light looks great! One of the best features I’ve added to my Jeep!

The best 5th wheel light out there but …
This light is awesome. The full disc of lights look really great compared to the single circle of lights most others have. The turn signal looks really good…BUT it’s advertised as plug and play but it’s definitely a bit more than that. You have to remove panels from the tail gait, cut wires and hook them back together….And the biggest issue is the white reverse light has to be hard Wired in to the passenger tail light and there are no instruction how to do that any where. Had to go to Jeep to find out which wire to tape into. The product is great the install is not.

Longer wires needed!!!
The media could not be loaded. If you just want to plug and play, into the trailer hitch, it is fabulous! If you want to install permanently, the wiring is NOT long enough and you have to do some soldering.Otherwise, the product is fabulous so far. Stay tuned for updates on reliability.

Easy install, wish it wasn’t necessary to order other parts
Had to purchase and install a trailer wiring harness for the girlfriends JL for this product. Wish I didn’t have to buy a separate component for the reverse lights to work but it is what it is. Looks sharp, super bright, girlfriend loves the look (in the end, that’s all that matters.)

Best rear tire light option.
Amazing, beautiful and a very exclusive look to enhance safety and style. Not a self install unless you are confident in your ability to locate, cut and tap the right wires because car manufacturers keep changing the wiring colors and don't make it easy to access them. Besides being a little tricky to wire in they are well worth it!

Looks good…instructions suck. No extension wire.
Looks great….But, the instructions are horrible. It would literally take a 5 minute rewrite to give you the info you need to get it in without a hassle. What color unit wire goes with which color harness wire? That’s be so easy. Instead, you Google it and it’s one installation video that doesn’t show details. So bottom line, looks great. Just installed it. Could have taken half the time with better instructions. We’ll see how it holds up.Subtracting a star for crappy instruction. Another because the extension wire mentioned on the instructions was not included.
