YUASA YTX14-BS Battery for Honda FL 400 R PILOT 1989-90

Perfect fit on my 2004 and 2005 Aprilia Tuonos. After having issues with Li-Po lightweight batteries from Shorai and Noco lasting very long, I decided to switch back to good old lead acid batteries. Much more reliable and easier to keep charged on the tender.

Works as expected

The biggest question I usually ask myself when purchasing batteries is how long ago it was filled with the electrolyte. At least this battery removes this question to a certain degree since it comes dry. My understanding that the shelf life of a dry battery is significantly longer compared to an activated one.All instruction were written clear but you need to reserve at least half day do perform all recommended procedures including the initial charge cycle.The battery performs well for two months since the installation. Will try to update on longevity later.The battery is an exact replacement of the battery installed in KTM Super Duke 1290 from 2014.I gave it 4 stars since the picture shows the battery made in USA. IT IS NOT.

An exact fit

I have this battery currently in my four-wheeler (08 foreman 500 with EPS) and lost track of how old it was until this hunting season began. I added a light bar and noticed the bike was starting a little slower after leaving the light bar on for a few minutes without the bike running. I looked up my old order for this battery and found it was over 8 years old. No question for me to replace with the same one for that kind of money. I remember having to add the electrolyte package and seal the battery up before install and there is nothing to it. Replacing it might spot my EPS light from blinking every now and then....FYI bike does spend any significant unused time plugged into a battery tender, but it will go weeks without the battery tender and never could sense it was low until I added the light bar.I don't do many reviews but felt this one to be worthy. Hopefully it will help them to continue to produce these good products and I HOPE MY NEW ONE IS JUST AS GOOD.

Yuasa is the leader in powersports batteries, that's why all good manufactures use them. Problems will arise if the battery is not prepared correctly, allow 1-2 hours for the acid to be fully absorbed before installing the sealing strip and charge it immediately with a high quality initializing charger, follow the instruction in the supplied booklet. Most AGM batteries fail because they don't get used during storage, AGM batteries don't like to sit uncharged, as the voltage drops, sulfation occurs and the internal resistance increases, this may or may not be corrected with a desulfating charger and damage will always be done due to discharging AGM batteries, therefor you must keep a high quality charger on your battery with a good storage program at all times, I use an Optimate 6, my batteries always last over 10 years, they MUST be kept fully charged at ALL times. Don't blame the battery, it the user that causes failures.
