Cygolite Helmet Mount Kit for Ranger, Expilion, Metro, Streak Series Bike Lights, Black, Compact (HLMT-DCV12)

I use the mounting piece to mate with my gopro adapter under the Garmin Computer. Works out perfect. Wait cheaper than buying the Rec-mount Cygolite adapter where you still have to remove the original light mount to use with that. I hope others would find this solution instead buying that $30 Rec-mount adapter.

I use this virtually every day as a bike commuter. You will need to take a look at your helmet to see if there are vents that the strap can loop through. From a safety perspective, moving my light from my handlebars to my helmet has dramatically improved my peace of mind. Most of the streets in my town have cars parked along the curb clear up to intersections, which obscure a bar-mounted light from traffic turning into the road. Having the light on my helmet ensures that turning cars can see my light over parked vehicles, and I can easily direct the beam towards a driver to help grab their attention in they aren't seeing me yet. A couple drawbacks to think about-- you will quickly learn not to glance at the light in the window of a passing house or people react like the police are outside, people will mistake you for wearing a gopro and being even nerdier than you already are, and lastly, having a mount and light strapped to your helmet may complicate rotational forces on your head in the event of a crash. For me, this is a tradeoff that makes sense, because I think the added visibility to motorists probably prevents some collisions from happening. If Cygolite wanted to improve this even further, they could devise a replaceable weak point to help the light and mount separate from the helmet during a crash to protect one's head from twisting.

I've been using this mount to secure my Cygolite Metro 650 to my helmet. The strap was easy to install through my helmet vents. It holds the light securely and allows for it to be adjusted up and down easily. Once tightened down I have not had issues with the light moving around.Having a powerful light like the Metro 650 on my helmet provides a nice amount of light to supplement the light on the front of my bike. Having the light up high and able to move wherever I am looking is nice for helping me see, and I'm sure it makes me easier to see as well.

This product does just fine as is, as intended. Run the strap through your helmet, etc. it works fine.I buy them to rob the "shoe" portion and the locking knob, which I retrofit to one of the many generic brand, variety pack GoPro mounts sets sold on Amazon. I have a stick on, permanent, slide in mount on my helmet. My method above gives me a low profile mount that is compatible with my Cygolite, which I can snap in and out of the helmet mount.Nice tight fit to the Cygolite. Spend a few more bucks and buy this branded mount. There is one other option for sale on Amazon that is a different brand, but it has poor reviews.Theses

I recently upgraded my bike with a Cygolite Pro 1100, replacing the metro 550 I had used for several years.Then I figured perhaps I could still make use of my 550 by mounting it on my helmet.On a recent night workout ride, I used both.The advantage of the helmet mount includes the ability to scan side to side, but also to look around corners before making a turn to avoid surprises.Love this mount which was easy to install and use.

I was looking for a handlebar mount to replace a broken one and came across this and decided to give it a try. For daytime riding I prefer the handlebar mount, but for nighttime riding, it's great to have a light that points where you turn your head. The mount works well with my helmet, with plenty of velcro to hold it securely in place. It looks a little goofy (picture Teletubbies), but I'm willing to make the trade-off.

I put this mount on the top of a bicycle helmet, so I could have a light that points where my head is turned. It works very well. Installation instructions are minimal, but the installation is not hard to figure it out for yourself. The mount is very light, but of course most of the weight comes when you attach a light to the mount.
