I'm in a great mood. Want to know why? I'll tell you. I feel pepped! That sounds weird, right? But, I've been reading "Pep Talk Poetry" by Emily Haines Lloyd and this book, which I thought would be just a cute collection of fun little poems, is so much more. The words so artfully composed, page after page entertain and remind me to keep being me. I'm the only one who can live my life, feel my feelings, express my emotions, and speak my truth. Sometimes, one needs a reminder. I didn't think I would find it in a generic looking paperback. But, here it is. This book is fantastic! I enjoyed it so much, I've given a copy to a friend who (I felt) needed it. If you're on the fence, let me assure you, this book is worth your time. You'll laugh. You'll cry... well, I did, at least. Emily Haines Lloyd is a very talented author who gets right to the point with sincerity and badassness. Each poem is its own dynamic piece of encouragement, easy to read and easy to remember. I find myself reciting my favorites in my head and many times out loud as I go throughout my day... telling myself that I AM an unmitigated badass and I was born to do hard things!!! I'm buying this for everyone on my Christmas list this year!
