Fun Novella
Sweet Distraction is a fun novella, book 1 of the Stag Brothers series, and the beginning of a few intersecting series taking place in Pittsburgh related to the Stags in some way or another.Tim and Alice are an interesting couple, with a heavy instant attraction between boss and employee. Tim is a lawyer and a control freak. Alice is his firm’s corporate chef and a lot more relaxed. Their story starts out physically intense, but grows, especially through their shared experience of losing their mothers at a young age. There are a number of secondary characters, some of whom are being set up for their own books. The writing in the book is sometimes a little clunky, but I expect that to improve as I read more in this world. I’m looking forward to the rest of the Stag Brothers and then future series such as the Brady Family.

I couldn't put the book down.
I really enjoyed the romance that developed between the two characters. This story took an unexpected twist that kept me engaged. I loved how the heroine helped the stressed-out hero unwind and how strongly they were drawn to each other.

Tim & Alice
This is book 1 in Lainey Davis’ Stag Brothers series. While each book is about a different brother, they’re best enjoyed in order. Books 1-3 are now part of a box set (ebook & audio). While this book is novella length, Davis packs in a great story with romance, a little personal drama, and great family. Tim is head of Stag Law Firm and likes his world “just so”. Alice is their new executive chef. The chaos caused by his mother’s death when he was young has made Tim desire order and predictability in life. Alice also lost her mother, and while it added responsibility in her life - her family pulled together and all help each other. While they have a lot in common there’s also a bit of opposites attract to add to the workplace romance trope.Tim & Alice are a lot of sexy fun and growing relationship. A huge surprise causes Tim to cling to controlling as a solution while Alice balks. I love how the Stag brothers all come together to support Tim mirroring Alice’s family’s response. Davis wraps things up nicely and I enjoyed their HEA.I can’t wait for Ty & Juniper’s book, Filled Potential.Narration:I enjoy Nikola Muckajev’s narrations. He’s great at a variety of voices and emotions. I like the way he delivers the chapters from Alice’s perspective from a slightly higher register than those from Tim’s. It really helps with the alternating POV’s. Great fit for Davis’ writing.

A cute romance
Tim and Alice's love story is lovely. There is a bit of heat and plenty of feelings.Dual POV and a happy ending.I like Lainey Davis a lot!*SPOILER ALERT*....There is a surprise pregnancy. I don't love those and there wasn't any indication in the synopsis so it's a surprise for readers also.

Sweet Distraction
Well written. Easy to see that this is a series. Interesting families. More steamy then I prefer, but a sweet ending.

Insta-Love
Sweet Distraction is the first book in the Stag Brothers series. Each book is a stand alone and doesn't have to be read in order. This book is a contemporary romance with a office and surprise baby trope. The writing isn't perfect but the characters are interesting with a Insta-love vibe and a strong family unit. A sweet, short story it may be but the epilogue made my rating a 3.5 star with its HEA.Timber "Tim" Stag is a corporate lawyer and the oldest of his siblings. After their mother died he stepped up and finished raising them. He has always been calm, collected and in control until his Gran sends a Chef to him to interview, she blows those traits of his to smithereens...Alice "Al" Petersen just finished culinary school and hoped to land a great job that would still allow her time to cook for her dad and siblings. She wants the job offered to her but will she be able to keep her hands off of her boss?Tim and Al has no control around each other and sneaks off to go a round and hopes that will scratch the itch. Unfortunately, once doesn't work and the more time they spend with each other the more they want. Their distraction becomes much more sweeter when they find out another "ingredient" is about to be added to the mix...

Not a perfect book. Certainly room for improvement. But really enjoyable
Another book I wasn’t prepared for. Because of the cover, I assumed it would be another story about a billionaire jerk who somehow manages to seduce the girl. It was anything but that.Stag is more or less the perfect (book) boyfriend–reliable, passionate, sexy, smart. His only major flaw: he lives for his job. Until Alice comes to work as a chef at his law firm. Though they share the loss of a mother, they couldn’t have had a more different up-bringing. Cocooned by a very close family, Alice is more carefree than Tim, who had to become a father for his brothers at an early age. You’ll find the usual cliché of insta-lust–Alice and Tim want to jump each other’s bones by page 5–followed by the expected denial. But it’s quickly resolved. The best part of the book begins when they accept they could be an item. Their relationship changes them slowly. The writing isn’t exactly good, and some sentences are cringe-worthy. But I really enjoyed the characters and their story. Also, the narrator did an excellent job. The sexy parts are sexy, the emotions are all there, and he did well with the female voices. Maybe if I had read the book instead of listening to it, I wouldn’t have been as enthusiastic. We’ll never know. Not a perfect book. Certainly room for improvement. But really enjoyable.

Can't beat the usual," surprise, it's a baby"!
I love a really sweet uptight man meets his match in a vivacious, happy-go-lucky gal tale! Really never gets old and Lainey plots a great storyline involving co-workers, siblings, grandparents, and more. What a super guy Tim turns out to be and the chemistry in this story is to be envied. One could only hope to run into such a treasure. All the feels!!

Refreshing
I really enjoyed this book, actually the whole series. I like that each book had a different main characters ( different brother and his girl), but still could follow with other brothers. The story went straight to the point. Very refreshing, short, romantic reading.

Of Flours and Contracts
What a way to introduce both Lainey Davis and the Stag brothers into my reading life. A brooding, loving brother and grandson is just what you need in your life. Coming up with Alice, sunshine, flour and muffins, is the perfect partner to his organised life. Their lives are entwined without them knowing it and their individual loss makes them perfect for each other. Beautiful read.

3.5 stars
This was an easy read for a lazy evening. I liked Tim and enjoyed watching him work through his complicated emotions. I think Alice is the perfect paring for Tim. I would have given the book more stars but they need a better copy editor.
