Taylor 5631 Colortrack Dial Outdoor Wall Thermometer, 6"

This item was to replace another outdoor thermometer, that had broken.

This thermometer is fairly accurate, but it can be a little hard to read from the sides. It has a rounded plastic cover over the dial that causes a glare when not looking at the thermometer straight on.

It's a smaller round thermometer, smaller than the usual 8" variety. But I liked the use of color in its face.Personally, it's too small for my needs (indoors), and it would definitely be too small to use outside and read through a window.Is it accurate? Well, I have no way to measure that. What I can measure is how difficult it is to mount anywhere, as mounting hardware is not included.In short, it's colorful but small, and different to hang anywhere. (Plus nine arrived with a cracked face).

Why is it that the simplest things are often the most needed and used? That's certainly the case with this purchase; Hands down one of the smartest Amazon buys I've ever made! I've spent thousands of dollars on my RV, and yet, this little gadget has been used more often than nearly anything else. I've relied on it to verify that the RV was over 90 degrees and I'd best not continue working on it in the heat or risk a problem. I've relied on it to tell me that, Wow! it was 32 degrees! And I needed to figure out a better heat source for boondocking in Indiana in January!Of course I appreciate that it's well made, very easy to hang on the wall, and the numbers are nice and easy to read no matter how much my teeth are chattering.It's also ALWAYS CHEERFUL, with it's bright array of colors. Something that comes in handy in extreme temperatures when the inhabitants of the RV are perhaps, NOT so happy.I have had this for about a year now, and it just keeps on working and I'm very happy with it. Would not hesitate to give it as a gift. It will enhance any patio, RV, or kitchen even!

Very easy to read for it's small size (face is 5" diameter, not including the clear plastic frame), but the exposed back makes me wonder how long this will survive the elements, since it is supposed to be for outdoors. The little metal bar they supply (not pictured) is meant to attach to the outside frame of your window, so you can view the thermometer through your window from inside the house; but that means from the outside, you will see this exposed back, which looks unfinished. However it does have an additional mounting hole to hang on a wall or fence, so that's what I recommend.

Super easy to read. It seems to be pretty accurate or close enough to have an approximate idea of the outdoor temperature, which was all we needed.Fair pricing.

Nice bright face, that is easy to read, but plastic cover is cracked and temp reads 5° high.
