I would suggest a better job at adjusting the threads in the manufacturing process, so the parts can screw together a bit more snuggly, but it works for me. I have it installed on my apartment balcony so I can have one hummingbird feeder hang away from the deck in front of my kitchen window so I can watch all my Anna's feed during the day. Prior to having the hummingbird feeder hanging there, I had a metal bird seed feeder that weighed, at least, 8 pounds, when full and it was very strong and reliable. I had no fear of the arm weakening and the feeder coming down on someone's head 20-feet below on the sidewalk.

Now the birds poop over the deck on to the grass and not on the deck. Great invention.

Exactly what I needed. Since I installed this, not a single squirrel has gotten to the bird feeder. Refilling the feeder is easy, just give the thumbscrew a turn and it swings over to you. No more stretching.I recommend this post to everyone who has a critter problem with their bird feeder.

The pole comes in a couple pieces that I wish went together a bit better. Having to put the steel lock washer in the middle makes this look a lot worse. Still using it as it's the only one I've found that works the way our deck rail is configured.

It’s perfect. We didn’t want our bird feeder hanging over our patio and making a mess, so we bought this to mount on the outside of our fence. We swing it towards us when we need to fill it with birdseed, then swing it back over the ice plant where all the mess can fall. I drilled small holes in the fence post first before drilling the screws in so it made it easier for them to go in. It’s very sturdy.

I liked this deck hook enough that I now have three of them that I use for the Brome 1015 classic squirrel buster bird feeders. Because of the knob’s design it is easier to tighten and loosen if you use a glove or cloth wrapped around the knob. It can be a bit annoying to get the two sections lined up correctly. You just have to experiment with the number of washers and with using tape on the threads.Update Oct 2018 - I received two more Extended Reach Deck Hooks today and just finished installing them. The welding on these two are miserable. There are gaps between the post that accepts the rod and the base plate. The others I've purchased in the past have a solid weld the entire length of the post. The posts and the nuts are all welded off kilter. One was so bad that the screw could not be tightened because the nut is welded at a downward angle preventing the end of the bolt from mating squarely with the rod. I ended up wrapping the exposed section of the bolt with tape and use vice grips to get it secure. I currently have six Extended Reach Deck Hooks and six Brome 1015 feeders. It's sad to see such an obvious decline in workmanship. Originally I gave it fours stars, but three is the best I can do at this time even these last two only rate a two.

The media could not be loaded. I bought these hooks to re-position my bird feeders so the squirrels and raccoons couldn't get to the bird feed. I had been filling up the feeders in the evening after dinner, and by morning ¾ of the feed was gone. After temporarily mounting a security camera to see what was going on, it was easy to see. The first half of the video shows my feeders (there's another one in the distance on the right) with easy access for the raccoons. After getting these hooks, it took me all of 5 minutes to mount them and re-position the feeders. The second half of the video shows the raccoons unable to get to the feed anymore. Perfect solution!
