Arthur Rackham: A Life with Illustration

A beautiful book Big enough to really showcase most of Rackham’s work. Nicely bound and opens flat. Includes many full page color plates and is filled with delightful little pen and ink creatures between paragraphs and popping up in corners and crevices throughout the book. It’s not just a picture book or coffee table book. It is filled with information about Rackham and his work. That being said, I often pull it off the shelf to flip through the plates. It is packed full, so if you are primarily interested In looking at his work (rather than reading a biography) you will not be disappointed. I really started using it as a picture book but was just naturally pulled in to reading about the work and the artist. The binding is good quality, this book will last. I have it next to some of the books my Dad had as a kid with Rackam’s illustrations in them. Will pass it on with these books to the next generation in my family.

The best biography of Arthur Rackham's life and works!

This is my first book from Arthur Rackham and I must say I love it, you can get some of his biography and also have full pages of his art, the paper that it is printed on is high quality.

I have always admired Arthur Rackhams work; although as a child I found his illustrations a little dark, but as an adult I now fully appreciate the skill and imagination that went into his work. This book is a delight. It is a quality publication with pages and pages of illustrations and each draws you into his magical world. There is also plenty to read.This book will appeal to a wide range of people. It amazes me that Rackham produced a wealth of such beautiful work without the aid of cameras and computers. He was an artist in an age when good drawing skills were both taught and admired and he was extremely talented. This book is a fitting tribute to his work.I bought this book from Amazon, and as usual it arrived in perfect condition and at a great price.

A large impressive book which admirably shows Arthur Rackham as a fine creator of beautifully detailed illustrations which I have long admired and this biography filled in a lot of gaps for me which helped me to understand this very talented man. The research that went into this book is exceptional. Rackham was a great influence on a great many people and his story deserves to be told and James Hamilton has done Rackham proud. I wish I had discovered it earlier

The books content is really good, however the quality of the book I would call bad. Didn't look presentable and I was giving it as a gift. Luckily my mum liked it but I wanted to give her something presentable at least.

What a beautiful book. Love it. Sadly haven't actually sat down to absorb and enjoy properly but I know I will asap. The other reviews influenced my choice and they were right, it's just great quality and such beautiful pictures - thoroughly recommend.
