Foundations of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Being in the SLP major, this book explains disorders very well.

I am seeking a dual certification in Special Education/General Education with a Middle School Endorsement in Science and Social Studies. This text is one of the better ones I have seen-The information is first and foremost arranged in a brain friendly manner. The companion website is VERY helpful. I have been using the powerpoints on the companion website to help guide my reading and I print them out in the outline format.This way I can pick out the main ideas in each chapter and unit and they act as a study guide. i like the flashcard and memory games that are also available. The quizzes are awesome, because the questions are always different. My first Unit Exam is Tuesday, so we'll see if these study methods/practices are working-however I actually feel pretty confident-there are a lot of vocabulary words, but the text does a great job of not using an overwhelming amount of professional jargon-I will be keeping this text to add to my professional resource library. I would recommend this text for any educator who is learning about the Response to Intervention Process as well as general and special educators-pre-service and practicing. It helps identify the physiological and psychological etiologies of speech and language development and provides typical developmental milestones in a progressive and systematic deliniation. THANK YOU, Dr. Fogel for bringing the knowledge language of the IEP and SLPs to a level that we can all understand! A must read!

Good book!

Great backup to my neck knife.

This book was purchased for a class of mine, and while I did get some information from the book, it's impossible to read everything that's in there when you taking other classes. Definitely helped me in my Comm. Disorders class, though! Good for reinforcing what was taught.

Made my fall out of love with Speech path.

Great text, one of the most thorough texts I have seen in my communicative disorders classes so far. The studyware component is great too and very helpful, definitely comes in handy in studying for a test!!
