Greenworks 13 Amp 20-Inch Corded Snow Blower, 2600502

This is a great tool for its intended use -- clearing snow immediately after a snowfall. Works great for us in the foothills of the Cascades where we can keep up with the snow. We've had consistent snowfall for the last ten days, and I go out in the morning and clear up around 6" of snow each time. Takes about 15 minutes to do my driveway and sidewalks. The engine is electric (powered by an extension cord), so it's quiet and powerful enough for the machine. I was able to run it in the morning and none of my neighbors heard it. Quieter than a leaf blower, and way quieter than a gas-powered blower. I'd compared it to being about as noisy as an electric hair dryer.It doesn't do as well for higher amounts of snow. I think it says it can do up to 10", but that would be for light, dry, and cold snow.And I would not want to try it to get rid of snow that's turned to ice - I fear the blades might crack.Assembling it wasn't difficult, but a few pieces were confusing - the middle handle (lower part) has a cord securing device or dongle that has to face a certain way, and neither the illustrations nor the directions mentioned that. So I had to disassemble it and redo it -- but it wasn't hard to do. Also, the handle that moves the direction of the "spout" has to go into the machine deeper than you realize - there's a rubber sleeve somewhere inside the machine that the handle goes through that doesn't seem to want to accept the handle, so you have to really push it, which is scary if you think you might break something.The blades of the rotary "wheel" are plastic, but for light- to medium-duty, they're fine. It gets the snow off down to the pavement of my smooth sidewalks, and right close to the surface of my textured driveway.This probably won't work on a graveled driveway or a driveway that has a deeply grooved surface like cobblestone, but it seems to work fine on all kinds of materials as long as the surface is hard and somewhat smooth.There are a few downsides. One is its weight. Because it is super light, the temptation is to push it more than you should, slightly elevating the back wheels, and grinding the scraper part of the machine into the pavement/concrete. Which means it stops going forward. Takes practice to not be tempted to push it harder than you need to, and to go slower than you think you can.The other is the way you power it: it needs an extension cord. I find this reasonable because that gives the lighweight and *quiet* engine the power it needs, a good compromise between a battery-powered machine (less power, requires recharging) and a gas-powered machine (more powerful, but usually far, far heavier and more difficult to maneuver and store). But the cord is going to want to travel behind you, which means that every so often you're going to step on. You can try to use the little dongle to secure the cord to the handle, but if you're using a long extension cord (mine is 100'), you're going to need the thicker 12/3 and not the 14/3 cord -- which is too thick for the dongle. Easy enough to just wrap the cord once around the handle, but still -- the cord is going to be there following you. Not a huge thing, but be aware of it.So, over all, really and truly five stars. Works great, lightweight, easy to put together, easy to fold down and stow away.For my use, it's well worth the price.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a decent snow blower. It is a light weight machine, which means it is easy to push around. The light weight also means it doesn’t have the bulk weight to push against heavy snow. This snow blower works best with fresh, fluffy snow. It can not throw heavy and wet snow. It definitely can not cut through ice. I used it on 4 inches of snow and it worked well. I used a light weight extension cord with no issues. You do have to manage the extension cord. I accidentally cut through mines. I could see a battery powered ones would be an advantage. When you take the blower out of the box, look for the little pin the attaches to the turning rod. It’s easy to misplace. The blower is easy to assemble straight out of the box. Overall, I like it for small jobs like the driveway.

We recently had 6 inches of snow so I got to test the snowblower. It worked quite well. Very light and nimble and throws the snow further than expected. Pay attention to starting instructions. I was pulling handle up then pushing button. Nothing happened. Need to hold button down and lift handle to start. I have several greenworks products, so several batteries and chargers. Make sure you use 40 Amp battery, the 20 Amp just isn't strong enough.

Feb 2019I finally gave in and bought a snow blower. Shoveling even medium snow simply wore me out and it took a day to recover. I'm 70 years old so that's my excuse.I bought this 40V blower because I already have three other Greenworks 40V tools - double blade mower, string trimmer and extended reach hedge trimmer. I have found them all to be more than adequate for my needs and physical limitations.The snow blower arrived severely damaged. It had been dropped from a height and the internals of the drive mechanism were jammed. The impeller would not turn. The battery cover was broken off and some plastic molding on the left side was broken off.I called Amazon and they immediately shipped another one and sent me a return shipping label for the broken one. The replacement arrived in two days. Customer service was awesome. Now I'm waiting for snow.Two weeks later.We have snow - sort of. Three days ago it snowed about an inch, then changed to rain, then froze up solid. No one on our block even tried to clear their sidewalks.Yesterday it snowed a couple inches on top of the old, icy stuff.The snow blower worked quite well. It picked up a lot of little pieces of ice with the new snow and threw it clear of the sidewalk with ease. Of course the very fine powdery snow didn't throw very far. The thicker the snow, the better it threw to the side.I clipped the edge of a concrete step which stopped the impeller immediately - and I mean immediately. It stopped dead with no grinding against the step. That's a pretty good self-protection circuit in the electronics. It restarted as soon as I pushed the button and pulled the bail. No problem.Now I'm waiting for a deeper, heavier snow to really test it. So far I'm pleased.I do wonder how well an all plastic body will hold up over several seasons of use in the cold. Time will tell.Two more weeks later4" of medium heavy powder.Did almost 100 ft of sidewalk - worked great. As noted before, heavier snow throws much better.I ran my 4Ah battery flat, the last bit trimming up the end of the driveway where my snow plow left some fairly heavy ridges of snow. It lit all four LEDs before I started, but it had been sitting on the shelf since summer so I'm thinking it wasn't at maximum capacity.The next morning, four more inches of slightly wetter, heavier snow.Did the same 100' of sidewalk and the driveway end after the plow. At the end it showed 2 LEDs lit so probably could have done another 50' or so.This snow blower works quite well. It's a lightweight so you can't beat it up on heavy, icy stuff. I tripped the motor cutout driving too quickly into the the side of the big snow plow pile at the end of the driveway. It restarted immediately. By inching forward, nibbling at the pile, I was able to widen the end of the driveway cleanly.I'm quite satisfied with this machine. It's actually easier to push than my Greenworks lawnmower as I can put more of my weight on the handle and thus don't need my cane to walk and push. It's light and easy for me to maneuver even on grass around our garbage cans so I can take them to the street on garbage day. The noise level is very low. Just a loud hum. Much nicer than the big gas powered ones on my block.It's a bit of a battery hog. I assume the motor is a lot bigger than the ones in the lawnmower. With the 4Ah battery freshly charged, I ran it down only half way doing the same 100' of sidewalk as yesterday. I assume the battery wasn't fully charged when I started last night.If you read all the reviews you'll see that some people haven't had such a good experience with theirs. Perhaps they got a bad unit, or were too hard on this lightweight machine. Whatever. I recommend it.

Don't be fooled by the low price and small appearance of this little electric snowthrower. It's amazingly good! It can throw snow 10 feet, and even handles wet snow. Light and easy to push, it has done a great job for us all winter -- I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.I bought this snowthrower to clear our front path, and our single-lane driveway behind the car. Once the car is moved out of the way, our snow removal service is supposed to plow the driveway. But our snow removal service has been unreliable this winter, and I have ended doing the entire driveway with this hard-working little snowthrower.I even cleared a 4-foot high drift by using a shovel to knock down snow from the front edge of the drift, and then cleaning it up with the snowthrower.Almost all the parts are hard plastic, and seem durable so far. Greenworks includes an order sheet so you can buy replacement parts if needed.The only drawback is that you need to use an extension cord, and keep the extension cord a safe distance from the front of the snowthrower. Anyone who has used an electric lawn mower will understand. But it has worked so well, I gave it 5 stars anyway.

Assembly was easy, and I recently tried it out after getting a few centimeters of heavy-ish snow. It worked well and I was surprised how well it throws the snow! It's a bit challenging on packed-down sections, you kind of have to chip away at those but I was expecting that. Otherwise I got my 40 ft driveway done in a fraction of the time I used to spend shoveling, even with doing a couple of places by hand such as the stairs and close to the car.A coworker has the same snowblower, and we observed the 'start' label instructions seem to be reverse of what actually works: instead of pulling the bail handle first then pressing the button, try holding the button first and then pulling the bail handle back. The former instructions seem to be how the Greenworks lawnmower works, so we think they cut corners and used the same label for the snowblower ;-)Otherwise quite happy with it so far.

Great product. Got rid of my gas blower, and this thing works like a charm. Light / easy to maneuver and very quiet. Have to get used to the cord, but that’s a small complaint. Highly recommend.

This is a snow thrower.It will handle soft snow by dusting it in the wind or breeze. Same for regular snow.Heavy soft snow: no prob.(Assembly is super easy,.but also it's easy to assemble the wrong way. The throwing handle works IF assembled properly.)High wind soft caked: cut it with a shovel.It's super light, so it's easy to move, but your body is the weight. Cutting hard snow is essential.It fully delivers what is advertised.Think of it as a push mower.

I live in the Laurentians in Quebec, where there is an enormous amount of snow, and I use this snowblower to clear my deck. As long as the snow isn't too heavy or in too large a quantity (i.e. close to a foot), it blows it off very efficiently and saves me the trouble of shovelling. It is easy to operate and has been reliable so far.However, it's very important to note that this is basically not a real snowblower. So if you are aspiring to clear, say, a snowbank in front of your driveway, or even deal with a large snowdrift, you should forget that idea right now. This is a snowblower for light duty only. It's a good substitute for a snow shovel on the deck, most of the time.Another small problem with this snowblower is that the chute that doesn't stay in place that well (it always shifts to the front, even if you point it to the side).If this item is on sale, it's a solid buy. But you have to be aware of its limitations.
