I used two of these little lights on my custom mantle lighting rebuild. I installed them on top, you can see the little black lights on the right and left. They are powered by the same 12V power supply as the strips I have on the underside, and dim beautifully. This picture is about half brightness. They are positionable, though if you try to point too low they will pop out of their sockets. No big deal though, they pop right back in. They do an amazing job of lighting up this gray fox my wife recently stuffed. Without the lights he would just be forgotten and unseen. With the lights pointed just right, it looks like the whole setup was just for him. He is the wise storytelling fox, waiting to greet you with a tale of tricks and mayhem. And the lights are perfect accent, couldn’t be happier. The right lighting can transform a space, making it inviting and adding character. These did the trick for me. So pull up a chair, warm yourself by the fire, and stay a while and listen...
