Best Amp on the market! A must buy!
I've owned solid state amps for 40 years. Treating myself to a new Gibson LP recently, I really thought I would also get my first tube amp. I tried out a few tube combo amps and was not impressed with the limited channels/controls, high price, and heavy carrying weight. Factor in limited built-in effects like reverb only, regular maintenance to replace tubes, and transporting damage concern the decision to stay with solid state really was a no brainer. The HUGE difference with this solid state amp compared to previous amps I've owned is the advanced Digital Signal Processing capability. Leveraging their years of expertise in DSP effects design and manufacturing, the Katana MKII is based on some of the latest technology there and I believe BOSS is well ahead of their competitors. There is so much packed into this amp. DSP based solid state amps have reached a new level beyond anything from the past. I ended up selling ALL of my old pedal effects and using the money to buy the BOSS GA-FC foot switch and FV-500L pdeal too. I absolutely love this amp and footswitch combination. I think the GA-FC at a minimum is a must to go with the amp. The FV-500L I use as an expression pedal for master volume control or I can switch the port that it's plugged into on the GA-FC for wah pedal or other pedal control. Setup of the expression pedal using the software is very easy and flexible to allow you to customize what and how you want to control a specific built in effect. While you do not have to use the free software, I HIGHLY recommend you do. Only challenge was finding the software to download. It is not intuitive after getting to the website. Youll find different artists tones to download, but no easy to find link for the core software. Just click on any artist download then scroll ALL the way to bottom and you will find the core siftware. Other than this challenge, everyting else was breaze. You will need the appropriate USB cable though. It does not come with the amp. At least mine didnt. The software is very intuitive, easy to use, and is what allows you to set up all of the specific effects you want to control by the footswitch and capture your tone settings. You can capture tone settinga from the front pannel, but have greater customization via the software. Through the software you can change the finer settings of every effect, beyond what you can do on the Amp control panel. The varations of tones and effects are absolutely outstanding. I've never had a better sounding or more capable amp. Now that I have it all 8 channels programmed with specific effects for each channel i can turn on or off by the footswitch, I do not even use the panel controls other than turning the power on and off. With the 100W compared to 50W, getting 4 each channels and a Variation Amp Type button to great more storage tone combines is worth the extra money. It also gives you more than enough power to comfortably play over drums and bass in small to medium venue.I also bought the specific cover for the amp. I believe this is the best sounding, most versatile, most capable, attractive, and best value amp on the market. I highly recommend this amp. Other than difficulty finding the software download initially, I cannot not find any issue or dissatisfaction with any aspect of this amp.

Great amp for the $$$.
Great sounding amp. I play country, classic rock, blues and some MOR styles. This amp, with the ability to set up amp presets,( 8!!!!!,) is amazing. Tone quality is realistic and close enough to all those classic 'tube amps' we all love, that only tone snobs will discern a difference. IF I have a complaint, this baby is heavy! I put wheels on mine solving most of those problems. Great amp for the $$$.

Worth Every Cent
The sound quality is very good, the tones achievable is endless. Very well made, not too heavy but you can tell it’s tough. A lot of built in effects, and the presets loaded on the channels are a great starting point for any beginner. Even for an advanced player, the possibilities are endless. Here’s a common misconception i see, the acoustic amp mode is NOT meant to make your electric guitar sound like an acoustic, it’s meant for an acoustic-electric guitar. If you don’t have access to a computer to access the Tone Studio App, you can get the app called Katana Librarian and get a compatible Bluetooth pedal (in app description) to make amp Bluetooth. that way you can connect your phone to your amp and can control everything on the librarian app that you could from Tone Studio. The different wattage modes definitely comes in handy when playing in different environments. Overall the price is well worth it, I haven’t regretted buying it once. It has elevated my playing experience greatly.

Really good amp.
I’ve been playing tube amps since the ‘80’s. Various Mesa-Boogies mostly. I still have my Nomad 100 head, but I needed a lighter and more “low volume friendly” amp. I’ve also been looking at pedals lately, but don’t have tons of $. The MKII 100 fills all these slots. It’s also a lot lighter than my Boogie. Nothing will ever beat a 100 watt Mesa-Boogie cranked up, and I still have that available, but the Katana can hold its own. If you know how to dial-in amps, and/or use the Katana Librarian app, you can make this thing sound GREAT. While it can get LOUD, it sounds great turned down on .5 watts. Just using the panel you can dial in great sounds, and the Librarian app opens up an abundance of further tone shaping options. I also got the GA-FC EX and the Airstep Kat to open up switching options. I would highly recommend this amp even before you factor in that it’s $379.

The "Amplifier For All" Combo Amplifier
The media could not be loaded. Boss Katana Mk.2 100This could be my "all-in-one" combo amplifier since it covers everything it can do to fully satisfy all types of guitarists out there. For Rock, Metal, Blues, and anything. You want Metallica, Megadeth, Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, or Pantera tone? This amp is for you.Gone are the days of buying expensive gears just to get the tone that you wanted and this covers almost everything by accessing it through your computer/laptop. You need the Boss Katana Tone Studio application on your computer to get the full library of hidden pedal FXs and library tone presets that cannot be accessed by using the physical knobs on the amp itself. You just need a USB 2.0 Type-B to Type-A Cable to connect the amp to your computer. Also a mandatory firmware update for the amp in order for the Tone Studio to function. You can download presets made by other users online so you can use their own as your tone. Or simply get tone presets that matches one of the tones of your favorite band.

Loud and clear
Most of the features has already been reviewed by others. I was mainly considering whether to buy the Katana MKII Artist or the Katana MKII 100, but the huge price difference, I went for the Katana MK2 100. Here's my review:1. Packaging & delivery: Product arrived before the delivery date. Packaging is good. So thank you Panoply Digital.2. Overall: The Katana MK2 100 is loud and clear with a lot of flexibility in terms of usage, tones at a good price. Having different power output settings and being able to customise the tones using Tone Studio software is the main difference between other amplifers.3. Loudness/Amplification: To be honest the 50W is quite loud for large rooms, so 100W is a bit of an overkill. But thanks to the different power settings you can change the power in the 100W output (0.5W, 50W, 100W). Also, I wanted to have the FX loop feature to use with an external processor which is available in 100W and above which is the reason I went for the 100W.4. Artist vs 100: Why not go for the Katana MK2 artist for the same cab size? The artist uses custom Waza 12-inch speaker vs normal 12 inch speaker in the MK2 100. So in terms of tones and features, artist is the best but the price jump is almost double the price which does not justify the price difference for the extra features and tones for my use case.5. Noise: I was a bit worried about the noise but tbh I didn't get any noise. So it depends on several factors. With that much amplification, pretty much any signal gets amplified, so depending on the quality of your pickups, wiring, etc, you may get noise. (Try a different guitar or a different room if you get noise).Hope this helps.
