Well written and suspenseful
Lots of twists in this one! Clever characters with personal issues make for a good read, on top of the criminal cases to be dealt with. Well done!

Good.
Good, but not great. It has a slow start but I’m glad I didn’t give up. The plot was interesting, and had the potential to be more exciting and suspenseful. The author’s detailed descriptions of minutiae tend to impede the reader’s flow of attention to the story as it unfolds. But all in all the writing is excellent and the 3 main characters are likable.

Fast moving plot
Another exciting book that keeps one hooked to continue reading without a break. The narritive describing the locations where the story takes place is so well versed that one feels present there seeing with one's eyes. Another great thriller.

Out of the Past
I think statistically, murders are often an act of sudden impulse, perhaps triggered by a fit of rage. The murders in this book aren’t. They result from tragic events at an orphanage— I guess there must still be orphanages, but you never hear about them now — that continue to distort the lives of the survivors into middle age. The staff and the inmates all have good reasons to want to keep the past buried, but then someone turns up at the scene of the crime whom the others thought was dead, and one of the others decides dead people tell no tales. So our detectives have a tough case to solve, made richer by the main character’s romantic entanglements. He has an ex wife and an ex girlfriend and it seemed to me he also fancies his new boss. But of course life is like that. (All 3 of these women talk to him in this book). It’s fast moving and tightly plotted as crime fiction must be, but characterization is a cut above. A good read to keep you home hiding from the epidemic.

Text editor badly needed
I enjoyed the book. BUT this writer needs a text editor rather badly. His book is filled with misplaced modifiers! That kind of grammar is very distracting. What happened to editors? Are they no longer available?I sent in corrections for about three, but I finally gave up 😢.

Great read
And this series keeps getting better and better. The personal life of Tom Jannsen surprised me. And all n the middle of a book I couldn’t put down. Well done!

Chilling Criminal Investigation into Murder Mystery Set in the Rural UK. Enjoy!
“Kill Our Sins” is the third novel I have read in this series by J. M. Dalgliesh’s. This was not as captivating as others I have read in the series. Perhaps it was because my train of thought was interrupted by several life events and some troubling national news stories that affected my focus.Like the last two books, The story stars Deputy Chief Inspector Tamara Greave, Detective Inspector Tom Janssen, and young Eric Collet a Criminal Investigative Division (CID) Officer in England to investigate and solve a mysterious murder case. While entertaining, I had found the storyline the actions of some of characters unlikely and a stretch on believability. It involves a group of girls adopted and placed in an institution where they were abused yet attracted to some staff members and grew up hiding a secret they shared. When one of those women who married, had a young son, and an abusive husband, was missing for years. While trying to return home she was killed and her body was found in a lake with extensive damage from the propeller of a small boat. The investigation expands as the story advances and we learn the back story of a number of the girls and their families. Likewise, we learn more about Tom Janssen’s past as he feels pressure to make his intentions clear to his girlfriend, Alice regarding their future together. It took me a few days to this 440-page murder mystery novel and I was not as impressed with this one as compared to the prior two, I will read the 4th in the series next. While each of the books in this series is set in the UK and the protagonist are the same characters, I recommend that you read them in order to get the benefit of the character’s background and development.Enjoy!

The plot is a complicated interweaving of multiple personal stories embellished with the emotional challenges of the detectives pursuing the crimes. I find the stories addictive.

A Norfolk Mystery
A book to read when you have time to sit and finish it. With many twists and turns it will keep you guessing. This is one of those stories where I wish there was a half star so it will have to settle for 4 stars. For a good read.

pageturner

A fairly good read but not as good as the first two books in the series.
The ending seemed rushed and, I think, not realistic. It seems to me that the author either got bored of writing or, more likely, the publisher wanted the story shortened, so the number of pages, in the print version, would not make an "awkward" number of pages - for purposes of efficient printing.
