Writing review six years later, because I'm getting them again
Other than a couple small frayed areas, they still look like they did in 2018. Glad they're still available. No name brand anywhere on these shorts, but they look great and fit great. I have this thing about cargo shorts that I hate: They're usually either too thick and baggy, too long, or the pockets curl way out on the edges and look stupid. These have none of that. Would rather the rear pockets not have Velcro at the tops (fitting your wallet back in them while trying to pry open the Velcro with your wallet feels ridiculous), but it's not a deal breaker. The feel, look, exact right length, and quality make up for that small negative. Recommended.

Love these shorts
Really nice shorts. As I've lost weight and yearly bought smaller sizes they've always had the same quality and consistent sizing.

Runs LARGE
These seem to be pretty good quality material and construction.I always wear a size 38 in trousers and shorts. I ordered a 38 and it was too large. Part of that may be a generous "relaxed fit" which is popular these days, so I perhaps could have worn them, but I did not like the look or the feel... Too baggy in the seat and loose in the waist.I sent the 38's back and got a size 36 to try. Those fit better in the seat and waist for me, but the inseam is very long. Too long for my taste and somehow seems to be longer than the 38's. However the lower pockets at their bottoms are finished off as part of the hem, so I believe I will be able to shorten the 36's without too much difficulty. The lower pockets will just wind up shortened along with the hem line. Since they are not expensive and otherwise seem to be good quality I decided to keep the 36's and go that route. If I am successful I will likely order more.UPDATE: I shortened the hem on the 36's and they are comfortable and fit well now. The lower pockets are less deep than they used to be, but they came out fine. The job wasn't hard but my personal sewing skills are not great so please don't look too closely at my stitching. If you or someone you know is a reasonably good seamstress it would be a viable solution. If you are looking for cargo shorts with shorter inseam try copying and pasting this string into the Amazon search:Guide Gear Cargo Shorts for Men Wakota - Casual and Cotton 6 Inch Inseam Shorts

Nice, comfortable
I really like these shorts. They are not always available at the local dept store. They fit great and wear well. The Velcro closures help keep stuff safe from loss or theft. Nice selection of colors as well.

Don't fit at all the way the photo suggests
I bought a pair of these to replace an old pair of Carhartt shorts with similar features, but made from a much heavier weight fabric, and with a longer inseam. The photo suggests a short that would sit 2-3" above the top of your knee, in contrast to the Carhartt shorts that sit at the top of your kneecap. What you learn is that inseam measurements on shorts are pretty useless, and it would be more useful to have an idea of the length from the top to the bottom of the short. These also sit right at the top of my knee, as do the Carhartt shorts. As for construction, and as noted by another reviewer, the "seam" inside the front side pockets where the front cargo pocket attaches is a nuisance. On my shorts there has been a steady supply of threads that span the pocket and that your hand gets snagged on when you reach in. If you pull out the pocket, and carefully remove these rogue threads, they are soon replaced by new ones. I'll hope at some point it stops. It's just sloppy and annoying.I will keep these because I needed a smaller waistline short, I appreciate the number of pockets (although I think the design could be improved), and I appreciate the price. If I wore shorts every day, then perhaps I would spring for $110 and get the Orvis version of this short, but $110 seems an absurd price for a pair of shorts. These will do for now, but I am looking for other candidates, and don't anticipate buying another pair of these. If you decide to try them and they work for you, great! If you get them and find yourself annoyed with all the issues that this review and others raise, then join the crowd. I found them a bit disappointing. The construction and fabric of the Carhartt shorts are better in my view. I purchased another pair from a different manufacturer that purport to be short shorts, but we'll see if they are actually an improvement.

Best shorts ever!
As a delivery driver who hauls cabinets into people's homes and garages year round, I can't recommend these shorts enough. They're the only ones I wear during the warmer months. The length is just above the knee so the hem doesn't catch on my knee when I'm stepping high up onto my truck's tailgate. The elastic waist gives me plenty of flex and comfort throughout the day. And even though cargo shorts aren't in fashion anymore, the extra pockets are perfect for carrying extra job site keys, screws, and whatever else I might find myself needing to have on hand for any given delivery. These shorts get plenty of use and abuse from me but I can still get about 3 summer's wear out of them before they're too worn to continue wearing.
