Fun, fascinating, entertaining.
LOVE this book. I came across it by accident, and reading all of the rave reviews, I wondered whether these were Skip's pals putting in a good word to help him out. NO! The book really IS fascinating, FUNNY, and raunchy. What a life Skip has had. If you are interested in a gossipy (but not mean-spirited) behind-the scenes look at the world of showbiz - from 1940's Hollywood, 1950's through 70's, strip joints, nightclubs, and army camps, back to Hollywood - up to the present day, this book is for you. He had sex with James Dean, is best pals with Mamie Van Doren, did a harrowing stint in an insane asylum, watched movie-gangster George Raft have wild sex in a coffin, etc. - quite uproarious. Hugely recommended.

Be warned, some of these reviews may have been ...
Be warned, some of these reviews may have been written by the author himself, who's given name, at birth, just happened to have been Sammy Labella. And, many of the '5 star' reviews happened to have been written on the same two days ..... hmmmm. Makes one wonder about some of the reviews on the latest book, "Hollywood Gomorrah"? A previous reviewer's comment of "garbage" was on point.

A WONDERFUL PAGE TURNER WITH LEGS
Skip E. Lowe's autobiography, 'The Boy with The Betty Grable Legs' runs a high speed race through his life and it is on avery fast track. No flagging, no dragging, no sagging. This book, like Skippy, moves with olympic energy and soulsharing humanity. With laughs, gaffs and shafts, there is nowaiting to get to the good parts. Every page is alive with astory that is immediately satisfying.I was intending to politely browse the book but Skippysnags my interest from the very first page and doesn't let me go.I felt I graduated a speed reading course, it reads so fast. What a life Skippy has led! It can't be true! Not that he has adventured with great names and far awayplaces that we can only dream of, but that he has actedon convictions where most only moralize. If you meet him, he's small. If you know him, he's giant.

The Boy with the Betty Grable Legs
Having been a child actor myself, I could well relate to the tale masterfully told my Mr. Skip E. Lowe. What a story!~What I loved most about Skip's life story was that he did it all himself! Travelling the world on no money except what you make at the clubs takes guts baby! Those who follow their hearts desire and explore the road less travelled always win my heart. Skip is a wonderful man, a sort of little wizard. Skip e Potter. HA! I laughed so hard at certain points of the book that I peed my bloomers. Sometimes, it was so sad I cried a river of tears. But it was always haute entertainment. I sincerely recommend the Boy with the Betty Grable Legs for all lovers of life, travel, bohemia, and the great show people and the great, great legends, (our teachers) like Skip E!

The Man Who Was Artie
Okay, I'll admit it. I bought Skip E. Lowe's memoir with the idea that it would be a horrendous hack-job full of celebrity groveler and rampant name-dropping. Needless to say, I was floored when The Boy with the Betty Grable Legs turned out to be a compelling autobiography written with panache and a good deal of humility.Lowe's book is difficult to put down. Lowe does well to balance his personal tragedies (Lowe seemed to attract molestation the way flowers attract bees) with his career as an entertainer. While his brief mention of his part in BLACK SHAMPOO is akin to Orson Welles skipping over CITIZEN KANE, Lowe's book manages to stand tall on its own shapely legs. (ISBN: 0964963582)
