So far, so good
I'm on a mission to replace bed underpads gotten from the hospital 8 years ago when my hubby was first injured. They don't last forever and they're critical to a bed-bound person's comfort and well-being in addition to being a huge help in preventing additional hard work for a caregiver. I purchased just one of these as a "test" before buying a quantity of them -- I've got a ton of pads that have never been used after the 1st one of the "herd" didn't work out for us.We've used this item just one time after an initial washing but, so far so good. I will follow up this review with an update should one become necessary after a longer period of use.PROS:* Generous size easily covers and protects the most likely bed area from accidents* Soft, fuzzy top material is comfortable* Doesn't seem to cause sweating* Quilting pattern is small/close enough to keep pad layers together and not so large that bumps or folds that would irritate skin and circulation can develop* Unlike some other underpads we've used, this one is soft and flexible right out of the box* Not sure what the waterproof material in the pad is but it's not noisy at allCONS* A little pricey but not bad considering our initial success with it.The tag on the underpad indicates that fabric softener should NOT be used in the wash process. I'm not exactly sure why that makes a difference and I've used fabric softener on the others we have forever. They've lasted more than 8 years, they're still absorbent and they aren't static-y when they're unfolded for placement so not sure why it would be an issue with this one. When I washed this one for the first time before using it, I did use the softener and the pad looks fine -- no self-destructing, no getting misshapen or any other negative impact that I can determine. And the fuzzy top was nice and soft, something that hubby really notices and lets me know about if it doesn't meet his expectations.Assuming our next washing and use are as uneventful as our first, I'll be ordering more of these to replace our aging stack of underpads.

A "Luxury Model" Underpad.
I have been using underpads for many years now because M.S. has caused me to suffer night sweats since my early twenties. By the time I would change the bedding I was too awake to sleep. My doctor recommended the use of disposable underpadding, commonly called "chuxs" by medical professionals. The disposable ones do the job well enough I guess. Their draw backs are the plastic backing easily slips, not making a person feel very safe to move. I also find the stop side to be rough and itchy. When my boyfriend and I were talking of my annoyance with the disposable "chucks", he recommended to me that I check into the Sahara Underpad. I am so glad that I took his advice and didn't hesitate to make this purchase a priority. The Sahara are high quality, soft, and don't slide around when you lay or sit on them. Our hospitals use washable underpads that are okay, but nothing like these pads. The hospitals have a sharp edge to them. That make them unpleasant to sit on not these. The seams are very well done and soft.I was surprised as to just how much water they will absorb by holding it under the spray as the water was filling in the washer. It got to heavy for me to hold before it was completely wet. (It does recommend not using softener) This is what I would call a" Luxury" underpad compared to my other experiences. I would highly recommend them.

Works surprisingly well
We're doing night-time training with our 5-year-old son who wears pull-ups to bed. We put these down on the mattress for the nights when we practice with just underwear for overnights. They work perfectly- I have no idea how they can be so absorbent! My friend uses the disposable versions and mentions at least every other week how she had to change her daughter's sheets in the middle of the night because of leaking. The only time we had leaking is when the pee pad got moved out from under our son from movement in his sleep. For that, I'm withholding a star as I wish they were bigger so I could tuck the ends in under the mattress. It's only a thin twin. I suppose I could safety pin it to the sheet in all four corners and that would do the trick probably. Washing it is easy- I've not had any shrinking or staying wet in the dryer like others have commented, but we have a brand new gas dryer so maybe that makes a difference? I purchased two and it was a great buy!

A Must-Have for Preschoolers!
These underpads have changed our lives! I bought 2 for my preschooler who is totally potty trained except at night. Even with pull-ups on and limiting fluids 90 minutes before bedtime, he still can soak through/leak sometimes twice in one night. There have been too many nights when I have been up multiple times changing all the bedding. Now we put a pad down on top of his sheet and if there's an accident, I just remove the pad and put another one down. They are not noisy when he moves around and seem pretty comfortable. AND we take them with us on trips and never have to worry about him soiling someone else's bed or a hotel bed. The only thing is they do make the bed warmer, which is great if it's a cold night, but not so great when it's warm. My son is often a little sweaty from it. That aside, it's been a game changer. SO GLAD we found these!!!

Just what we needed!
These are great! I bought 2 for my husband who has a spinal cord injury. He has accidents infrequently since his injury and I could see that it was causing him a lot of stress. This helped tremendously. He keeps one on the bed and the spare folded up on the side of the bed. If he wakes with an accident he just changes his clothes and swaps out the pads and continues sleeping. We throw the pad and his PJs in the wash in the morning, and it is no real hassle. I can tell that he is far less stressed and worried about a potential accident. We travel with them too. I wish I had known about these when my kids were potty training!

Soft and doesn't bunch up
I use this for when my daughter comes over to our Master bed, just in case of a night-pee. It is soft, excellent coverage and absorbency, doesn't bunch up under the sheets, and is super easy to wash and dry without any special care (unlike the nasty vinyl underpads). Will buy a couple more.
