Having stayed many summers in Venice with her grandmother who lived on Speedway, my 99 y/o mother loves hearing her memories being read to her by me.

Fantastic photos of old Santa Monica!

Very disappointing. There are some really cool pics, but, for the specific era I was looking for, the 1940s and especially post- WW II, there is almost nothing. I went through it several times, thinking maybe I had missed it somehow. Only ten pages, out of 290, on the 1940s, and only two pages on post-war 1945-1949, whereas the 1920s has almost 80 pages devoted to it. Its almost like they forgot that section. Absolutely nothing about all the great Texas/Country concerts and dances on thise piers.
