Excellent. Easy to read but far reaching.
This collection of short essays about various aspects of the world of news imagery is easy to read yet penetrating, perfect for assigning to college and/or grad students across art history, communications, journalism, history, and more. It defines what a news picture is, discusses their selection and distribution, where we see them and how we evaluate them. It brings us from the 19th C to the present day and considers a wide range of images from painting to wood engraving to photography. Highly recommended.
