It functions well as a stand but what makes this stand out (for what it's worth) is the build quality and look. It looks and feels just like something Apple would sell you for 50% to 100% more money. It is really that nice. Color is a solid match to the mac space grey, build is great, weight is ok. There is likely a tradeoff between weight and quality of these, so I am not complaining, just noting that it is not the absolute lightest you could find.

I go on a long business trips to Asia every 3~4 months and I had gotten rather used to having my 15.4" MBP on a stand at home and at work and decided I need a lightweight portable stand I can take on the road. I got a foldable stand from a manufacturer called GoKing and it was good but not quite sturdy enough for typing on the laptop as it tended to tilt one way or another. So I passed that off to my son who has a 13.3" MBP and looked for another solution.I saw an article about the mBar Pro in some tech article and decided to give it a shot despite its rather hefty price tag. Well, if you've already put in thousands into a new MBP and peripherals what's another $60? The fact that it's only 4.6 ounces was a big plus. I intend to use the stand in the hotel rooms as well as at the offices of the suppliers I visit.I received the stand today and it's exactly what I had in mind. It's wide enough to keep the MBP steady while typing and resting one of my wrists on it. The previous stand tended to tilt as the base was somewhat narrow. It's very minimalist which is good and the height is perfect. It's something I can carry with me and use anywhere. It fits the 15.4" MBP perfectly and the tabs that keep the laptop from sliding off is just the right height as well and doesn't protrude over the surface of the opened MBP.Very nice. It's a pricey stand but it's sturdy, lifts the laptop to a nice angle for viewing and typing, and it's very lightweight. The carrying case is a nice touch as it'll prevent the stand from scratching anything else inside a bag. Very happy with this purchase.

This is the best laptop stand! I have gone through 3 different stands now and this one is by far the best. This is far superior than the Twelve South stands that are more expensive. The other Rain Design stands are great and no complaints, I like the portability and minimalist design of this one particular. I can type on the keyboard while using the stand and there is no bounce back. Highly recommend this product. High quality and so easy to use.

9.5 / 10Love it! Started a new job and needed something to prop my laptop up off of the desk so the laptop would have adequate ventilation. The majority of the models that I saw had a solid bottom, had a few holes for better ventilation, or had fans and required either an outlet or USB, I wanted something minimal that had almost the entire bottom exposed so it could have a higher thermal shed, with this, it's super easy to setup, move, or pack into your bag.I have a 13" Laptop but, this does easily support a 15" laptop as well. I'm almost certain a 17" would work too but, I don't work with many of those.

I don't know why this doesn't have more reviews yet. I just received this today, but I am pleased so far.No it doesn't adjust height, but there are height options to choose from and if you have a sense of how much height you need I don't know if it necessarily needs to be adjustable. I got the highest version of this folding stand- the Pro +. I was also looking at the Roost stand, but I think it's way over priced at $75. It looks cheap and I don't like black plastic or black objects in general and will always choose a lighter colored one especially since my decor is light. I actually emailed the company to see if they would be offering other colors like white or silver in the future and they said no. So I couldn't bring myself to pay that much money for something that I thought was ugly and didn't like the color of. If I'm going to pay that premium then I think I should have a choice of colors and be able to purchase one I like! There's a reason why iPhones and Macs come in different colors and have for years and continue to--because people have different tastes and people like having a choice. So I looked around more and looked to see if Rain had a portable stand since I use and like their regular MacBook stand already. And I'm glad I found this one and I'm pleased to have a stand that matches my silver MacBook.It is sturdy and although it doesn't fold up as compactly as the roost or some other stands it is flat and if you look at the weight specs this is comparable and just as light for travel. I do have the more stationary swiveling rain stand which I love, but wanted something more portable for travel or working in a different area.

First class design and built like it was from Space X! I now have proper viewing height and most importantly total air flow from below where my vent across the bottom is with zero obstruction. If you have a 17" or smaller Legion THIS IS THE ONE!

I like the clever and simply design but it strikes me as insufficiently solid.

I really really love the product, but sadly one of the rubber nibs in the back broke after just 6 months of use! I may try to super glue it back on, but support hasn't gotten back to me in days, so I'd dock a fair number of points to sturdiness. Besides that though, the product was perfect.Updated review:I emailed support, and they sent me replacements for all the rubber pads. Super helpful and super quick! Wer gerne sein MacBook Pro 14" leicht angewinkelt verwenden möchte aber trotzdem noch die Tastatur des MacBook verwenden möchte, der ist mit dem mBar Ständer von Rain Design perfekt am Start. Eigentlich ein sehr einfaches Produkt, dass aber das perfekt gebogene Aluminium Stück passt perfekt zwischen die 4 Füße des MacBook Pro 14" und verleiht so dem Laptop einen festen Stand und einen perfekten Winkel.Ich würde den mBar Ständer aber nicht für unterwegs empfehlen. Konstruktionsbedingt ist der Ständer nicht so gut zu verstauen.
