A Great Start To A Lovely Series
Sadie James’ life has never been boring. A part of the in-crowd at school, she’s content with the way her life is going. Granted, she’s had her share of up’s and down’s, but she wouldn’t change how things are for a minute. Except for her ex-boyfriend. He’s an ever-present thorn in her side she can do without.Determined to make the most of the school year, Sadie immerses herself within her classes. With her best friend, Heather, by her side, she’s also willing to try new things. Though she’s not sure as to what to make of the sudden turn of events she soon finds herself in, she knows things aren’t as bad as they seem. After all, she’s captured the interest of the one person she never thought she would. Surely, school life can’t be that bad, right? When an unexpected series of events soon start taking place, Sadie begins to realize that things are not what she thought they were. A boy she’s dreamt of her entire life has suddenly made an appearance. Though she can’t explain why that is, nor can she make sense of the way he makes her feel, she’s knows there’s a suitable explanation for what’s going. The question is, does she really want to know, or should she let things slide?Determined to understand the strange world that now surrounds her, Sadie promises herself that she’ll never forget who and what she is. As the secrets of her past rise to the surface, she comes to the realization that those she’s loved and trusted have kept things from her from the get-go. If she’s to succeed in setting all wrongs to right, she’ll need to trust in herself and the one person she never thought she’d trust completely. Only then, will she be able to unlock the true secrets of her own existence.A great start to a lovely series, Deep Blue Secret has action, intrigue, and all things supernatural. I loved the unique characters Christie has created, and the way she’s given them free rein to do as they wish as they strive to discover who and what they are. Sadie is determined and head-strong, always seeking to assert herself. Granted, her world isn’t what she thought it was, but she’s learning how to make do with what she’s got along the way. I look forward to catching up on more of her adventures in book two.

Amazing read, I loved it.
Wow, this book was pretty darn good. WoW is a word I would use for sure.I never read a book like this before. With the Water Keepers and Healing Waters, which is a new concept for me, and I loved it. At the end of this book I am still a little in the dark on what exactly a Water Keeper is, I mean I know what they do, but are they even human? Or even from here? Not sure. Seems there must be another world they are from, but again, not sure. I am sure book 2 will tell more.Sadie was a good character, she did at times get on my nerves, but as the ending came I was able to understand why she was that way at times, it was not her fault.Rayne I absolutely adored, what a great guy, and hot too. Lol. He was so good to Sadie and was there for her. There bond is strong, and I was hating she was fighting it so hard. Here is a part showing the strong feelingsThere was a long, heavy pause. I waited breathlessly for his response. His glowing eyes met mine and their radiance hypnotized me. I could see nothing else.I felt it again, the unexplainable connection between us. Time slowed. I inched towards him, wishing for his lips on mine. His hand lifted gently to my waist, sending a thrill through me in every direction. Never before had I felt the desire to kiss someone so fervently, the divine first kiss I'd always dreamed of.I really loved how we have alternating point of views in this book, from Sadie, to Rayne, even Ash and Voss some of the time.I won't say anything to spoil the story, but want to say, the last part sure had me on the edge of my seat, and I loved the ending. I was glad at least one answer was addressed and I was glad I was right in that one, I guessed it right, lol. Not telling you what that question is, curious if everyone guesses it correct.I really loved the sweet relationship Sadie has with her mom, and I think more YA books need that, it seems so many of them alienate the parents, and I think that is wrong. Sadie's mom is a great person, who is so good, and caring. I was sad to hear her story and the pain she went through.I highly recommend this book to the young and old. There are great underlying messages in this too. It's written very well too. I can't wait to dig into book 2 Rogue Wave.5 out of 5 stars for me.I was provided a copy of this book for my honest review.

Lost interest
I am reading the tbr list on my kindle from newest to oldest so this had been sitting there for quite a while. My first thoughts on this book were that the author has quite a strange style of writing. It is very repetitive and at times there are so many adjectives that it is overwhelming. For example, I don't know how many more times I could read the words 'his piercing green eyes'! (Or was it blue? I stopped caring). Then there is the plot. There is the usual romance element for the MC, although obviously every guy in it finds her irresistible! It all hinges on the 'healing water' that is administered to the chosen few. How these fortunate people are selected is never explained, although at the end of the book we learn why Sadie is one of them. It's not a bad book. It has all the prerequisites for a YA novel and I have no doubt it will appeal to teens, but as a retired school librarian I have read many YA novels and I don't think that this is one if the better ones.

I loved this book so much. From the very first chapter I was drawn into the book.SPOILERSadie has began to feel depresion and has tried to cut out love songs and just simple love from her life. One day, her best friend tells her Nick - a very hansome guy - likes her she is actually excited and they both plan there first date. However, after school when Sadie was speaking to her friend, a guy bumps into her; a guy who she knows; a guy with the face of someone in her dreams.Who is he, why does Sadie think she knows him, what is his job and how much does he know about Sadie's life.Inorder for these answer to be answered READ NOW it is for free so you wont be wasting money if you aren't happy with the book. However, I don't think you'll be disappointed as the book is far to good.SUITABLE FOR AGES 12/13+Review written by 12 year old girl27.3.20EnjoyPs. thx to the auther for writting this book and pulling me into a significant world of water keepers.Another ps. stay safe from corona.ENJOYXXXX

Loved it
I really enjoyed this book. It is slow getting started&gives you more questions than answers, however this was something I actually liked. Unlike some of the other reviews I think Sadie's behaviour is normal for 17 year old i.e confused, confident, insecure, inmature at times which is all part of being young. I found the concept of the water keepers unique. I appreciated that there was no explicit sexual content or strong language in this book because many YA books are full of these things. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Lost Interest Gradually.
Book - Deep Blue Secret (The Water Keepers #1)Author - Christie AndersonStar rating - ★★★☆☆Would I read it again - Undecided.Plot - good, interesting, original - definitely a teen readCharacters - relatable, funny, interesting (at the start)(end up) boring, repetitive, childishMovie Potential - ★★★☆☆Ease of reading - easy to read.-** I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR MY READING PLEASURE **-STORY:This book began with a great start. I was instantly intrigued but happy to float for a while before stepping right into the action. This feeling dwindled gradually as the book went on and more increasingly `floaty' areas occurred. The idea of the sad song on the MP3 really reminded me of Beautiful Creatures, and the playing of '16 Moons' with Lena. I was completely entranced by the description and atmosphere the `Rose and Driftwood' picture created in the story. I think it was pure genius. It was a real `moment' for me, and for Sadie. I really looked forward to meeting `Rain' but I did think it took too long to get to the point of his part in it all. Yes, the mystery built tension and confusion in Sadie, but when the big `reveal' happened, it was a little anti-climactic.I do have a few niggles with the writing. E.g. - the use of `sight' instead of `site' and so forth. To me `sight' is vision and `site' is location and that wasn't how it read in the story. Sometimes there's speech at the beginning of a paragraph and a little description in the middle, but often there's no speech mark to show that it's gone from description to speech, which can get confusing since the whole thing is in first person.I found that the further I went into the story, instead of the action hotting up, it stayed kind of level with the beginning, which made it feel a little slow. I kept taking breaks from reading when it slowed down, to do other things, and I would lose my motivation to start up again. I think there were a few chunks we could have done without. I know Sadie is sad and depressed and confused, but I don't think we need to be reminded of it quite so often. And I'm not sure I like her being this super nice, super pretty, `understated' girl that all the boys fight over. I don't think it's needed here and it's a little overdone in the genre, I think. It's a little disappointing to see when her character began so differently.-CHARACTERS:I like Sadie as a main character. She's nice, grounded, sweet and normal. She's a teen girl who has all the usual teen drama with some added extras. I'm really not sure about Heather. She goes from nice and fun to weird and almost unnatural at times and it gets a little confusing trying to decide if her character is good or bad. I'm not if that was intentional, but that was how I read it.By the end of the first chapter, I was totally ready to trade in the intriguing Nick and the stalkerish Justin, who slightly peaked my interest, for the mystery dude with coordination issues and iridescent skin. Talk about unique!I really love the connection and innocent need there is between Rayne and Sadie. It's sweet and age appropriate enough to keep this book YA. It's also nice to have an MC girl who isn't totally desperate for a boyfriend, or who wants nothing but fluffy pink hearts and romance in her life. This attitude does tend to slip, the more Sadie is around Rayne, but the fact that it's there at all, is a nice change from the usual YA's I read. However, I did tend to forget Sadie's name as I was reading. It was only mentioned sparingly, and I mean nearly not at all, during the first 30% of the book. Once things began happening, there was more of it creeping into the story, reminding us of our main character's name and identity. But it did take too long. I write my review notes as I read, so that I don't forget important points or reactions and I kept having to write MC instead of Sadie, because it took too long to look back and find her actual name. Being told in the 1st person, it does make sense that it's not mentioned a lot, since Sadie isn't self-centered or focused on herself that much, but it feels silly to forget her name at all, since she is the MC.I was very interested in Vass and the Cayno prison. It was a nice addition to the story. I could see this having a really big impact on the story, however that didn't really happen. It had a lot of potential, but it was kind of rushed through and then ignored later.Syreen was a very interesting character, when she was first mentioned. I had my suspicions about her and Sadie, but I really did have to wait and see how that panned out, because it felt like forever before she came back into the story again. I loved the way Sadie wrote letters to her father, even though she doesn't know who he is. I think it was a great way for her to feel connected while venting her feelings. It was a very original and heartwarming option.I have to say that Justin and Nick made even ME want to strangle them. I got very angry with Heather during the whole issue with the two boys. If I were Sadie, I wouldn't have gone to her house for any reason, never mind stayed long enough for anything to happen.I had a few issues with the big `confrontation' at the end of the story as well. Voss and Rayne do `battle' over Sadie. But to be quite honest, the really good fight scene was vastly overshadowed by the pathetic whimpering thoughts of Sadie. Here are my big issues -1. She only got `caught' because she's a stupid idiot who doesn't listen to people who are trying to protect her.2. Why did Rayne sit there like a lump, mooning over her body instead of taking her to safety first? Why? Because the author knew that doing that would delay them in time for Voss to find them. But that's unrealistic. A guy trained like Rayne, with sole concern over Sadie's safety would instinctively get her to safety and THEN make sure she was okay, knowing they would get caught if they stayed too long. I have no issue with the confrontation, since it's necessary, but the way in which it was engineered didn't fit the personalities of the characters.3. Why does Sadie stand there, useless, and not go for the gun right away? She could have done a lot of things, that she didn't because all she did was stand there and panic. That wasn't helping any one.-OVERALL:The book started well and had promise. The plot was unique and interesting and it kept my attention for the first 20% of the book. However, at that point, it got increasingly difficult to continue reading. My interest in the story waned and everyone began acting out of sorts. As a reader, I wasn't getting any answers and that diminished my interest in continuing the story. By 70%, I'm sorry to say that I gave up. My really big issue with this story is that the more I read, the more immature Sadie seems for her age. She's supposed to be 17, but she acts more like a fourteen year old with a first crush. It doesn't gel. There's this big mystery about Voss and what he's up to, but by this point I've lost my will to care what the answer is.I don't understand the ageing process of Rayne and his people, or why it's necessary for the story. It just seems like an odd addition that makes the story even more unbelievable. Sadly, when I find a story unbelievable, even a fantasy/paranormal story, I can't get into the story well enough to see it through. I may finish this book one day, but it won't be right now. Or even very soon.I really feel like the more Sadie discovers, which isn't much, and falls for Rayne, the more childish she gets, which makes the story more difficult to follow or care about. I got to the `slap' incident and I'm very sorry but that was the end of the line for me. The whole scene was a little ridiculous. But like a trooper I kept going. And it didn't get much better. This book has taken me what seems like forever to get through It was good to begin with and then as the story got more elaborate and more complicated and more secretive, the less interested I was. I'm sure other people will love it and find it highly intriguing, but it's giving me a headache trying to keep all the pieces together to figure out what's going on. I think maybe it's a little too much crammed into one book. If it were half the length, it may have been easier to get through, with the end nearer in sight, but it's not and that's a shame.

So So
Deep Blue SecretBy: Christie AndersonSeries: The Water Keepers #1Pages: 358Genre: Paranormal and YARating: 3/5Review"Morning, Sadie-bear." I stared with half-opened eyes."Mom," I complained."It's too early to be so...perky." - SadieBefore I write anything else I have to say to say this book was very unique, I had never read anything like it. The narrator of the book was a girl named Sadie and she is your typical high school girl in her perfect world until someone burst her bubble. That someone is the mystery guy named Rayne he is a interesting character who she says she has met sometime before. Sadie needs protecting from another man one with cold black eyes, so can Rayne protect her? You will have to find out because I am not letting any spoilers through.Sadie was a interesting character but she did make everything harder for her self in the beginning as we got through the book her character broke through a bit more. She is another perfectionist type always around her friends, she is stubborn and kind. The same with Rayne but I have to admit I believe he was a more pronounced character than Sadie. He has a very reserved and mysterious sort of character. He does not want get involved with Sadie and hurt her, but you could tell he cared for her.The plot was brilliant and the idea was completely Christie's own but I did think the story missed something very important to the story, I felt that everything was slow then suddenly she reached the climax right at the end. The writing was beautiful in places but sometimes it felt a bit long winded. So this is why I gave the story a 3/5 because I liked it but apart from it's uniqueness there is nothing else special about it."I wasn't over exuberant about it like girls you would see in the movies, jumping around like a rock star, using a brush as a mock microphone, but I did like to sing."- Sadie
