Dorfman PacificDorfman Hat Co. Men's Yacht Cap

I really don't know what the negative review people were expecting but I think this hat is great. It has really detailed embroidery on it, well made. Primarily cotton construction, plastic bill, a back that has an adjustable strap much like a baseball cap but really durable. For fun, for a person that owns a small boat, for a party, this is perfect. Not a "reproduction" of an actual military hat but that is not the point.

Among the novelty hats with adjustable tabs on back (like a regular baseball hat) this reigns supreme.It fits my big head and my wife’s small head when we both tried it. Wore to Yachtley Crew concert and now want to spend my days following them around on tour while wearing this hat. I’m only half kidding.

I ordered 3 of these hats total. One was for my fiance for a float trip, and the other 2 were gag gifts for our dads for Father's Day. All 3 hats arrived in good condition, and look pretty good for the price. I will say that the patch is slightly off center and you may need to take a lighter to some stray threads. However, for $11 each, they look great! My fiance's hat went through a float trip, and still held up fairly well, so they are pretty durable. Overall, it was a fun purchase, and if I needed to reorder, I would.

The picture makes the hat look like it is a higher quality then it actually is. The material is thinner than I would like. However, it worked perfectly for what i wanted. I bought it for my boyfriend because we just bought a houseboat. I thought it would be a fun gesture to celebrate our purchase. The hat was well received. I'm sure it will be worn at least once when we christen the boat with champagne and cut the ribbon. I'm not completely unhappy with the purchase because it served its purpose but if I had to do it again I would pay more for better quality.

I am usually afraid to buy hats over the internet because I have a large head, size 8" or bigger to be exact. This hat is snapback adjustable and even with my giant head I still have 2-3 snaps together. The hat is very well detailed with the patterns the patch on the top. The white is very clear and the material is actually really good too. If you need a captains hat for a costume or even your boat... this one is perfect.

Before I continue, I have to say that the patch was nearly an entire inch off-center which made my eye twitch. Cut to me seam-ripping the thing off and resewing it on in the right place. Once that was remedied, it was great. It commanded the proper respect of my authority while I shotgunned beers on a muddy Alabama lake all weekend. If you're capable of basic sewing or you don't care if something is horrifically off-center (you monster), this is a great option at a good price.

I've seen "Standard" classic nautical hats on here. If you want to be viewed by your sea-faring peers as a "standard" ship's captain, then be my guest, go with one of those hats, that's all you deserve. This deluxe model by Dorfman Pacific is the Rolls-Royce of inexpensive nautical hats. As a non-boat owner, but friend of a boat owner's son, it only seemed appropriate that I could consider myself an honorary captain, and with all great honor, comes great vestments. I brought this little beauty up to the lake for a beautiful afternoon voyage. As I perched myself seductively on the port bow (that's front-left for all of you non-honorary boat captains) wearing my signature cut off jeans shorts, it was immediately evident that the local lake people were recognizing my Captainship, with the level of respect and awe that they were exhibiting towards me. 90 beautiful minutes later, my great adventure was over, just a man, leaving his mistress, the sea (lake), behind, to go back to the real world. A world where a shirtless man wearing cutoff denim with the pockets sticking out of the bottom is ostracized, not celebrated. This is the challenge that I pose to you, Boat-Hat enthusiast, when it comes to your at bat in the great baseball game of hat purchasing, are you going to take the walk, or swing for the fences...That's what I thought, now take your trot around those bases, Captain.

Got this, like most, for a friend to wear on his new boat. It's surprisingly decent, as I was expecting a fairly crummy bit of "costume quality" dress. It's better than that. The foam inserts to keep the captain's emblem up are a nice addition. Stitching is so-so, and the fabric is clean. Obviously, this won't hold up long under "real use" (whatever that might mean fort he seafaring set), but it's more than adequate for a fun day on the water.

Was perfect for a Skipper halloween costume, once I took the gold off.

Plastic peak is not symmetrical, symbols are offline, shape does not hold at all, looks awful

Excellent hat, very good, I thought it was way too expensive tho, but it was the best one I found, I resented paying the price but however it was the only option for me, don't think it is worth the cost but there's nothing I could do about that so I had to bite the bullet, it took a long time to arrive but did arrive within the stated window of time, im still giving just the actual product itself 4 stars out of 5
