Well thought out
This product uses proper UV fluorescent tubes. Many cheaper ones use LEDs which don't make the same effect and won't attract as many insects. It comes with a spare bulb too, which look easy to change. The instructions are thorough and well written. There is a brush for reaching into the cage to remove insects to save fingers! The tray is easy to remove and empty. One feature which would have been handy would be wall mounting hooks. But ours sits on top of the fridge and we turn it on when it's needed. Usually when the back door is open! It catches a fair few insects and saves the daily run around wacking them all. Very good product.

If you like moths, do not buy this.
I read the reviews and was concerned by some that claimed this product doesn’t work. I’m now starting to think that those reviewers didn’t realise you dat to switch it on, or something.1) This product works2) Really wellFlying insects are not as stupid as you would first imagine. They only have a tiny head, so they can’t have much of a brain, right. But they seem to know enough to not fly straight towards the big light... As a fly you need to buzz around a bit first. Land on the wall nearby and give it a sideways glance. Buzz around a bit more. Fly off. Then eventually come back and attempt your first tentative landing on the shiny chrome-plated bars.<CRACK> 3000 volts shoot through you making a noise that humans can hear, not only from the next room, but even at the end of the garden 100ft away!!!If you are a larger moth, then you might get a few zaps, and you might even start sizzling as the tiny amount of moisture in your body boils away.In the length of time it has taken me to type this, I have heard three more victims succumbed to this Muscidae Mutilator.I’ve only had mine a month and when I went to empty the tray it was full almost to the brim with crusty inset cadavers.Works 👍Audible alert 👍👍

Does what it says but there are aspects to bear in mind
It will need frequent cleaning and the manual is scary in that regard warning of personal injury and death, I expect because of residual current. Because lets be clear, it electrocutes the flying critters to a crispy death. And it makes a loud enough noise doing it that you can be startled, even in the next room.I set mine up on top of a cupboard with the power cord dropping to the power bank beneath the cupboard. Fine on an isolated cupboard but useless in the average fitted kitchen. So spare a though before you buy this type of machine to where it will go. I had to use an extension cord because the power lead attaches at the top of the zapper and is only 110cm log so effectively less than a metre long. The manual is one of those lost in translation exercises so beloved by Chinese manufacturers. But unless you're really literal you'll be able to work it out.The cleaning maintenance is simple when I ignore the manual. With a respect for residual current in the zapping grid I wear a rubber glove and brush the grid through the outer cage with a wooden handled dry paintbrush. The corpses fall to the tray beneath which I then slide out and empty. No fuss, no dramas. The manual would have you take the thing apart first with lots of injury warnings. And you will have to do more than just empty the tray now and then as some of the larger critters stay fried to the grid until brushed off by you. I'm cleaning it once every 6 weeks. If you have common sense I would recommend this unit as a bug zapper.

Great fly zapper
Since I have had this I don't seem to be getting bitten in the night by anything whereas before I was always waking up with itchy bites, I have noticed that it kills loads of small flying insects in the night and I know these were the culprits, not sure how many of them were mosquitoes as hard to tell once they are zapped! It has also killed plenty of regular flies. One thing though, it makes quite a loud 'pop' sound each time it zaps a fly which can make you jump out of your skin so I don't recommend putting it in your bedroom, I leave mine in the kitchen and it still seems to attract anything that flies in. Basically, it does not zap much in the day but at night when left glowing in the dark its irresistible to flying things.

Quick delivery, very easy to use
A really good and efficient product which kills flies with a small sharp explosion. It works best during the dark, when the zapper is the only light source in the room, but it also does a very good job during daytime. Happy with my purchase.

IT DOES WORK
Very funny. Plugged it in and 30 seconds later, less I think, a fly went straight to it and bang.I have not had this for very long, but there were mixed reviews and some say it doesn’t work at all. Well I have had this for less than a week and it is definitely working. I don’t have it on for very long either and it has even worked next to a window in low level daylight. The only thing is that it is made for mosquitoes and not great black big flies. It is hard when it half works and I have to feel really really bad. It has only happened once - so in maybe a week we have had many successes and one very guilty fail. It died, but it suffered. It has the zapping grill on one side only. The surrounding grill is well made and it would be difficult to accidentally poke your finger / paw through it.The extra bulbs are a great addition. The bottom tray is a doddle to emptyThe handle is actually really comfortable / useful4 Stars because it could be slightly stronger voltage for big flies, but there may be regulations on that - who knows .. it is definitely fit for purpose.

Attracts the bugs but that is about it
Unit seems sturdy enough, as others have said it includes proper UV tubes and not LED's which does attract moths and flies etc. I might have been unlucky here, but after dispatching a fairly small moth, the flies manage to fly in and out of it without so much as a whimper. I suspect the High Voltage section has been fried by the aforementioned insect. I'm definitely not sticking my fingers inside to find out for certain.Only just discovered this outside the return period, so it looks like I'll have to get my multi-meter and soldering iron out.
