Cheyenne Madonna

A great variety of stories from this talented author are collected here and I found them most interesting. This first book does make one look forward to reading more of his writing. Culture and climate influence much of the the characters in this book about Jordan, his family, his love, and his life. It is the kinds of book that should probably be read again and even then, most of us will take something different from it..I highly reccomend this book.

I really enjoyed Eddie's book. Being from Muskogee, Oklahoma and with my father, Joe Rector a well-known Indian Artist himself, I felt I knew these characters from the circles of people that I grew up around. Thank you Eddie for an enjoyable, heart-felt read. JR2

I bought my first copy when the collection came it, and it blew me away. I bought another several as gifts. We selected Cheyenne Madonna for book club this summer, and it's even better the second time. Galveston Bay, 1826 is as good a road trip tale as has ever been written or filmed, and that includes Pow Wow Highway, Fear and Loathing, and Thelma and Louise. The balance of the collection are gritty, authentic contemporary tales with an eye for detail, real emotion and an understated appreciation of our shared humanity. Stands with Hemingway and George MacDonald Fraser among my favorite short story collections.
