This product has some nice features and is a great idea but unfortunately falls short. The heating element puts out a nice even and comfortable heat. The thermostat does a nice job but in my mind should be closer to the plug and not so close to the roost/heater itself. As far as a roost, not the best material or design for chickens to grab a good hold to roost. Our chickens kept slipping off and couldn't get a good hold. We ended up mounting the heater just below our wooden roost in order to provide our chickens with heat under their breasts and feet. Needs to back to the drawing board.

I can’t believe how hard it was to find a suitable large perch! I wasn’t even looking for something heated, just didn’t want to build one of wood. It almost never gets cold here. Then ironically, right after it arrived, we had a rare cold event and snow in south Louisiana...so the lagniappe heat was a bonus! Works exactly as described; heats only when triggered by freezing temperatures. Otherwise I wrap the cord up and bag it to keep it clean and out of the way. The birds love it.

Fits perfectly in our coop, keeps the ladies comfy despite the very cold conditions outside the coop. If you cared, it would be easy to clean. Stays upright even with my fat orpingtons perched on it. Feels solid and well built. Best solution for us

I am not sure why they use it somedays and not others..

Bought 3 to mount in my existing roosts, but the leg design makes it hard to secure. They do not have controls, or indicators. Each roost turns on at a different temp. Two of them get uncomfortably hot. My birds don't like them. heated roosts are a good idea, but this product is poorly designed.
