Unbreakable holder of churned cream
After purchasing and subsequently breaking several glass butter dishes, at the recommendation of a friend, I purchased this…an unbreakable butter dish. No more dropping the glass dish in the sink to shatter, no more having the lid fall off the table to it’s early demise. This functional and beautiful butter dish adds a dash of class to the dinner table while bringing peace to the family through no more tears over spilled milk. It does have a couple of visible scratches, but I’m so pleased that it hasn’t shattered, that I don’t really mind. Highly recommend

Great purchase
I can’t say that I dislike anything about this butter dish. But LIKE everything about it. It is a great size. Compact, yet it will hold 2 sticks of butter. The plate portion is a thin stainless steel so it’s not heavy but you’re not going to bend it either. Lid is thick plastic & durable. If definitely buy again & recommend to friends/family

Great engineering, flimsy metal base
The base is really thin and cheap but the design is fantastic. I just wish they spent a little more on thicker metal. I remove a star because the base is sooo thin. Really guys? spend another dime. I really like the size, shape, lid, handle, form, dimensions and everything but the scrimpy base.

Broken upon recieving
So this is a good butter dish. It holds butter. It looks nice I guess... you get a clear view of your... butter....But be careful with the top. I'm assuming it's easily broken. It came cracked during shipping but I still use it because well... it's not like my butter is going to try to escape and pound on the top...So yeah. It sucks that it came broken but I still use it. It still holds my butter.

Super cute, easy to use and clean
I originally bought this same butter dish with the clear acrylic lid. I loved it so much that I wanted a matching one so I could store salted and unsalted butter. I'm so happy that this is available with a steel lid so that they are a matched set, but you can easily tell them apart. Both of my dishes are super durable and easy to use. The knob on the lid means it's easy to get the lid on and off without getting butter all over it, and all parts are dishwasher safe. I would absolutely buy this dish again.

Adequate dish for the large 1/2# slabs. Knob is useless.
I'm updating my long-ago review by adding a photo of the long knob I installed to replace the OEM tiny knob. Not only can I now pick-up the lid up without flipping it onto the counter and getting butter everywhere if there is some on the lid edge, I can actually hold onto the knob. When I lay the lid down, it now rests on the knob and the curve in the lid, and I can easily pick it up. Not so with the OEM lid. My knob was simply taken from an old lid I was discarding. The OEM knob looked cute, but was useless.Although this is relatively inexpensive compared to other kitchen items, it's utility is quite high since it will contain a food item that I want to be safe on the countertop. This dish fails in that regard. I wanted a butter dish to handle the wide Kerrygold sticks from Costco without having to cut them longways, and which would cover my butter when the dish is left out so the butter can soften, and to keep the air out so the butter doesn't spoil. This dish accomplishes some of that, but it should have done it all:Pros: 1- The butter dish is wide enough for the 1/2 pound Kerrygold sticks, or two 1/4 pound US sticks side by side. 2- The clear lid makes it easy to see how much butter I have. If I'm using 1/4# sticks, I could put another beside a partial stick and not get any on the lid. 3- The lid does not rest on the same surface where the butter rests, but on a raised ledge 1/4" off the bottom, which should keep the edge of the cover clean. 4- The 3.6"x5'x1.6" (1.85" when you add the height of the ledge) lid should never touch butter. 5- When I lift the cover, I cannot easily lay it on its side so nothing gets on the sealing surface. 6- The .6" diameter knob is really tiny for my big hands. 7- The sides of the dish are very close to the width of the lid, so there is a good side-to-side seal. 8-Although the tray is lightweight because the starting sheet was only .020" thick, it is still quite stiff and more than adequate for the task. 9- Some people had complained about discoloration in the dishwasher, which made me wonder if the lightweight tray was possibly aluminum. I measured and weighed the tray; the weight verifies it is stainless, but why the discoloration in the dishwasher? If I find out, I'll add to this post.Cons: The quality control for this China-made butter dish is sub-par. The butter dish looks great, but I doubt it will keep my butter as safe as my close-fitting clear standard-sized glass dish that I had planned to retire. Regretfully, the overall length of the ledge where the lid rests is too great compared to the length of the lid, and is a much narrower ledge on one end, so the lid does not fit snugly on the ends. The ledge is 1/16" wide on one end and 1/8" wide on the other . This is, I'm sure, due to poor placement of the blank on the stamping machine. The plastic lid has small protrusions from manufacturing still on the sealing surface, which will prevent a tight seal even if the tray was perfect. I can cut these smooth, but I shouldn't have to do that. You can easily see past the end lip of the lid to the bottom of the tray, so there is no way the lid will give a good seal on the one I received. If the ledge for the lid were the same width all around the perimeter, and if the ends fits as snugly as the sides, the tray would be perfect.... but that's not the case. I tested the ability of the lid to give a good seal by putting some water in the tray and tightly holding the lid in place. Water poured out the corners. If it can't hold water, it can't hold back air from entering. So it get 5-stars for appearance, but I reduced it to 2-stars because of the inability of the tray to provide any semblance of a seal, and the tiny knob is decorative but not functional.

Leider rausgeschmissenes Geld
