Fascinating
The book was an interesting read, especially due to the fact that it included history of the area during that time period. I looked forward to reading a few more chapters when time permitted and was sad that it had to end. Guess I have to get read Book 2.

Interesting Read
This story takes place in New York State from Albany through the eastern Adirondack region. Being from Ticonderoga, New York, I have hiked through many of the areas the author describes and have visited and/or seen most of the landmarks. The author's descriptions of topography are accurate and although the work is a fiction, the life of the book's characters as depicted are true to the period. I anxiously await the next in the series. RIP old friend.

I am from the Adirondack area which is the setting for the book. Although not a slick as some more accomplished authors, the story rings true and is engaging.

A great story of 18th century life in upstate New York
A great story of 18th century life in upstate New York, closely following the battles between the French and English for control of North America, and complete with early colonists and their push into the wild frontier, along with the raw savagery of the Native Americans fighting for their way of life. It was tough to read at first, until I viewed it as if I was sitting around a campfire listening to Ken Kuyler and his memories of a time ago.
