Night Owls and Summer Skies

If you're looking for fun, laughs, and uplifting fun you just can't do better. No spoilers here so let me just say that Emma finds herself at Mapplewood, a camp she was at once before and back then hated, and so dreads it on this 2nd time around. She also comes from a broken family & her mom is a homophobic horror-story. But Emma has a strong personality, and though starts camp second time with negativity & deep-seated fears and anxieties… well, again, the story is funny, fun, and actually usually it’s joyful.In fact it’s so much fun and at times laugh-out-loud smart & funny that more than halfway through I started not wanting ever to get to the end, and so I put off finishing it for weeks – since I was so afraid it wouldn't turn out perfectly. While putting off finishing. While delaying going further, I found that the author Rebecca Sullivan was only 22 when Wattpad published it in 2018 and I simply couldn’t believe it. I'm still stunned she was so young to have written such deeply drawn and moving comic romance.The repartee between the two MCs is hilarious and is whip-smart in their young sarcasm & wit & vulnerability. The large cast of supporting characters is also amazing among both the campers & camp staff. The romance is moving & deep but they're college-round & at camp & it's chaste and you find you wouldn’t want it any other way. I cannot believe how good it turned out to be -- pitch-perfect and not a single off-note in the story, the humor, the (emotionally moving but never draining or overwrought) drama, the deeply drawn & keenly intelligent main character & young woman who is her slow-burn partner in romance, and a long joyful tying-together the threads in a satisfying and even joyful HEA.If you'd prefer young women a few more years into adulthood or further, and perhaps lots of steam, this may not be your thing. But if you want a funny and chaste in an emotionally upbeat young romance that breathes love & cheerful uplift & sunshine & summertime, then this may be just your thing-- and you could find it was unmissable –- alike the summer & whole cast & young romance & repartee & laughs.And a broad age-range for enjoying it--maybe 10 or 12... to 100.

I started reading Night Owls and Summer Skies after I discovered the Webcomic on Webtoons. Unfortunately, the FastPass option made it hard to binge all at once, so I got the novel instead.As a fellow Emma, I loved it.As a fellow lesbian, I loved it.As a fellow human being, I loved it!The story is slow and builds up many great characters. You come to know a bit about everyone and want to know more as you get to know them.There were some bits where the dialogue and who said what became confusing, but I was too in love to care.This is a Sapphic romance novel. It's not in your face and pushing an agenda, but simply pure and sweet.

It’s soooo good

I came here after finding out on web to on that this was actually a book turned into a comic. The book is great. A few differences so far from the comic but I think it works. The book is great. A girl who struggles with depression and anxiety but still choosing to stand up against bullying. Definitely a good read for everyone.

Loved the story!!!! Very well written!!!! AMAZING PLOT!!!!! i would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good slow burn with a bit of a twist!!!! Or hopelessly romantic college students!!!! XD

Well crafted story from start to end…Was really hard for me to stop reading, when I needed to follow my daily life. Otherwise if I had started reading it somewhere alone I would had read it nonstop from start to end!

I've recently read that good stories try and pull you in using your imagination whereas great stories don't have to try as you live the story in your mind. This is a great story that I read in less than 24 hours as I couldn't out it down. Believable characters, well written dialogue, a lovely plot and the sweetest love story I've read in a while. I look forward to reading more by Ms Sullivan and I hope we see more of Emma and Vivian's life together, maybe from Vivian's PIC next time. 5 stars
