Who's that tapping at the window?...
Oh my goodness!!!This is such a scary, creepy story. I am not a fan of vampire stories because I find them very frightening, but as a fan of Stephen King, I felt that I should read this.It is one of his best novels to date in my opinion. It succeeded in every way. I was scared, happy, I laughed and cried. It tells the story of a small town by the name of Jerusalem's Lot. It is an ordinary little town until, one day, a strange and mysterious stranger moves into the Old Marsten House that has stood empty and decaying for years.Nobody ever sees the newcomer, they only ever see his assistant. He runs all the errands and is quite dark and mysterious himself.A young lad from the town begins to expect foul play is afoot when another local boy suddenly dies. It soon becomes apparent that the newcomer is actually a vampire and is busy setting about turning the whole town into vampires too. This soon turns into an epic battle between the few local inhabitants who believe that there are blood suckers in 'Salem's Lot, (and who haven't already joined them!), and the Master vampire himself, Barlowe. The courage depicted by King in the lead characters is very admirable. I know that had this happened in real life, in my home town, I would be a big sissy and run away!!!If you read this book, (and you should!!!), and enjoy it, you might enjoy the Dark Tower series also written by Stephen King. There are, at present, 5 novels in the Tower series. The latest one, Wolves of the Calla, tells you what happened to Father Callahan after he left 'Salem's Lot. That too is well worth the read! All there is left for me to say is if and when you read this book, make sure you do it with the curtains drawn. You wouldn't want to see who it is that might be tapping at your window!!!

My first horror read
This is the first ever Stephen King book that I've read. And I loved it!! I've never read a proper horror book so was excited to read this, especially since I had no idea what would happen unlike some of his other books that have been turned into movies.I did find it a little tedious and slow to get into, purely due to the amount of characters and tedious detail that I found he went in to and by the time some characters would make another appearance I would have totally forgotten who they were or what they were doing. However the style of Stephen King's writing was incredible. It's hard to believe that this book is 45 years old! It really feels like it could have been written yesterday which I really loved.By the end of the book I couldn't put it down, I was hooked. It was scary, thrilling and sometimes funny.

Love it
I’m a sucker for multiple editions of King books so when I see a cover I don’t already own, I snatch it. Absolutely love this edition; it looks exactly like the photo. It’s a little beat up but I bet it was well-loved & I’m not too picky with my books condition

Arrived in good shape , quickly too. Bought for my daughter who wants the darker novels. I loved it and remember reading it in the fall on a park bench in New England on a fall day

One of the scariest vampire books ever
With the present Twilght Series being so fashionable, the fascination with vampires persists. This book is one of King's most disturbing although two mediocre TV movies were made of it that don't come close to how frightening the story is. If you have a Twilight lover in your midst, give them this. They won't sleep for a month.
