Well researched and presented very well!
I appreciate all the research by the author. The account of the 479 LST and its' 2-year journey through its Pacific campaigns during WWII is well presented in this book. Lots of details and documentation. Recommend for history loving readers. Good job, Bill Gay!

A Good inside look at the not-so-famous ships of WW2
I have to admit, that I enjoy WW2 history a lot. This book interests me and opened my eyes regarding the role of and the everyday life onboard the Landing Ship Tank (LST) vessels. A good read!

A great story of the unsung heroes of WWII
A great story for anyone interested in the story of LST's. It is a seldom told story of the unsung heroes that supplied the troops and other ships while putting themselves in harms way. My father was a crewman aboard this ship so it was also his story. It was a very well researched book and the author was nice enough to help me in my search of my father's navy service. Thank you Willaim Gay.

An interesting account of LST 479--one of the small details that helped win WWII
A fascinating account of a single small ship and its crew as they helped win the war in the Pacific. If your knowledge of WW2 is based on the big battles and major campaigns, Unseen Body Blows will give you insights into a green crew and a brand new ship took their place in US History.

Great book! New ship class, new crews, OJT in combat!
This is a great read and highly recommended. Most of us big-deck Navy types "poo-poo" the Gator Navy, but without them we don't win in WWII. Period! It details the crews commonly manning MOST naval ships at the time: young, greener than green, fresh off the farm and operating a brand new, untested ship class. You think your 15-year old has growing pains? Compare that to the LST!! ---Ross Dickerson, CDR, USN (Ret)
