Q: Are the pockets big enough to hold a smartphone comfortably?

Yes, but not great. I use these shorts to ride bicycle trails. I want my Samsung S-20 (with a relatively thin protective case) secured in a zipper pocket while riding. The S-20 can be clumsily finagled inside a zipper pocket and then close the zipper. The S20 barley fits horizontally and wont fit vertically. However, it isn't easy to quickly retrieve said phone if you wanted to take a photo or deal with a phone call.

There is a zipper and a snap at the waistband.

Q: What is the model number ( on the tag ) of the shorts?

Search Amazon for model number NW926CN (model number on my charcoal shorts tag). The first result in upper left is the shorts where you can get them in tan/khaki, charcoal gray and the dark green. The model number showing on my tag for tan/khacki shorts is ZM926DS and for dark green the model number on the tag is NW926SB. But you can buy them in all 3 colors from one seller by searching for NW926CN.
