Cleared up our pond after a 90 percent water change.
My 3,000+ gallon pond had become so thick this summer with green algae that we could no longer see our koi unless the were right it the top of the water while feeding. I put this filter together and hooked it up to my pond pump and let run for 3 days 24 hours a day. I could see no difference in the clarity of the water so I decided to do a 80 percent water change. The water then became clear and we can now see the gravel on the bottom and all our our fish friends. We are happy to say that it has stayed very clear ever since. I am so glad we don't have to keep adding chemicals trying to clear the water as some of them have killed our younger fish even while following the directions to the letter.

Leaks and no support
I just received and hooked this up. Water leaks out of the top of the unit. Checked O-rings and look fine. Emailed support and have not received a reply.

Good for the price
The user manual didn't really help much with install but their support line was very helpful. I wasnt sure if the bioballs that came in the box were supposed to be added to the filter, or if they were extras to use in the future . The tech support guy said it already had some in the filter and that those were extras but that j could add more if I wanted . I never did get the filter actually opened up , which was the original reason I called their support - I couldn't figure out how to get it open . Seems that's a two person job that will require someone with much strength to pull the bottom off once the seal is released. The tech support guy that that is because it's never been opened and will be difficult due to the seal. I'm concerned about this once it's time to do yearly maintenance rinse out and have to actually open it up. Hopefully it will go ok and seal back up properly.. with regards to that seal, it did seem to affect it, my trying to open it, or maybe it's just that it has to sit perfectly flat, because I did notice a little drip from around the seal once I got it up and running , though that seemed to go away once I straightened the filter out , as it was leaned slightly. It's much taller than my old filter of the same flow strength , and just slightly wider which was a hassle- I had to pull my liner up and re dig the little well I had made for it to sit in within my pond. Also, I didn't realize the specification and didn't seem to offer an alternative but the nozzels for the outgoing and incoming water, and back flush output are in reverse order to my old pump which really made it difficult hooking my pump and waterfall hose up to this new pump. I'm going to have to get a longer hose now for my pump in order for it to reach and sit back at the bottom of my pond like before. Ultimately though , this has worked very well to clear my pond. My old filter has cracked and the UV light fried as a result, and my water turned pretty badly due to algae. I treated it several times with barley and it didn't clear up but after only a few days with this new pump, the water cleared up, I can see all the way to the bottom again, and my fish are once again happy! I'd say for the price of this filter , it's worth it. Seems like there are many similar for much more $ and also some for about 100$ less. They all seem to be the same hit or miss quality import filters so I went with this one and only time will tell if it holds up, but I'm content if it's not super durable that I didn't spend a huge amount of money.

Easy to set up and easy to clean.
This filter is easy to backwash by just turning the pump off, turn two valves, turn the pump on until discharge is clear. Turn the pump off, reset the well marked valves and turn the pump back on. When it’s time to rinse the filters inside, it’s easy and straightforward. No instructions required. Not all filters are that easy. Some are a puzzle to rinse the filter elements.
