Pure gold
Henry Cloud and John Townsend's books (e.g. Boundaries) are usually loaded with gold. This one, by Townsend alone, is no exception. As in their other books, here he reveal issues from angles I had never seen them from before, and he does it with such clarity I am truly grateful. The book is overflowing with illuminating insights about what works and doesn't work in our interactions with those we purport to love.P. 30: "Love is at its best, and you are at your best, when you care about people who are not very lovable. ...Unlovable people, like all people, need to be sought, not tolerated. ...No one deserves love, but everyone needs love."Pages 51-55 alone are worth the price of admission. "Connecting People are Connected People." Townsend shows how Kyle grows when he learns something new that he didn't learn at home: how to connect emotionally by getting his partner to share with him what she is feeling. Kyle learned to experience the world through her eyes--and her heart.Highly recommended.

Yes, make the purchase!
From the first page of chapter 1 I have been hooked on this book.It is a refreshing outlook on what true love is in a world of phony ideas of what love is.

Worth it!
This is a great book and very challenging for my faith to live out as a follower of Jesus. There is great Biblical wisdom and practical steps in this book that are worth applying. If you want to be challenged in your faith and how to love people like Jesus, then get this book, read it and apply the principles.

Focusing on relationships
Worth the read. Got bogged down in ch 3 with the extended discussion of relationship needs and mechanics. But rest of book was interesting and insightful. For example, he talked about maintaining friends: his, hers and theirs. He presents a practical, healthy approach to relationships inside and outside of marriage.

Helped me to understand so much about myself.
An amazing read for those seeking to better understand themselves, how they love and are loved. I didn't know how much I didn't know about myself.

Disappointed
I was excited to read this book because I have enjoyed the Boundaries books so much. Unfortunately, I found this book dense and difficult to apply. I don't think I learned anything memorable from it.
