could not believe how much I liked it
(Possible spoilers--be aware) I saw the first 5 Saw movies in the theater, but after 5, I was worn out and pissed off by the series. I felt like it had gotten too clever by far--that the point of writing the stories wasn't so much "what would make another good Saw movie?" but "just how more convoluted and confusing can we make these? hahahahahahahahaha!" Like the writers just thought they were so damn smart, and were using the Saw franchise to prove it. I was turned off by all that, and by Hoffman. Hoffman! When 5 ended with him having the upper hand, I Was Done. I sat out 6 and 7, and didn't give a crap. But my boyfriend (we started dating after the series was completed) convinced me to watch Saw: The Final Chapter, and just skip 6. I did it for him, just waiting for the ending to arrive so I could be pissed off again. But I was wrong! The one word I would use to describe this movie is Satisfying! I thought the Bobby Dagen storyline was inspired--first by the concept itself, and then the twist his story took. You remember that reverse bear trap from the first Saw? It finally goes off and you get to see it. The return of Doctor Gordon! That sombitch survived, and boy, does he have some surprises up his sleeve. And Hoffman? Well, I won't give any details, but if you look at the beginning of this review, you'll see that one of the reasons I gave up on the Saw franchise was because that character kept winning. So if I like The Final Chapter this much, that pretty much tells you how he ends up. Just thinking about it makes me giddy. :DI loved TFC so much I went back and watched 6. Knowing how everything wraps up really made that easier to stomach. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I honestly feel odd giving a good review to a movie that is little more than a 6th sequel (are any sequels any good after the first one? And oftentimes not even then?), but damn, it's like they wrapped everything up in a nice bloody bow and handed it to me. Are there things I'd change? Of course. But as it stands, everyone involved created a movie that actually made me forgive them for all the things I hated up to then. This movie satisfied me. :D

Liked it more than I thought
I think the last SAW movie I watched was the first one, and I'm not much of a horror fan, so never watched any of the others. Now that it's over I watched the last one. It was pretty disgusting and I cringed a lot from the gore, especially pulling a fish hook out of somebody, that was pretty gruesome, and the story kept going at a good pace. SPF did a good job as Bobby, but they basically cut him out of the film before the ending, what's up with that? I guess there must be some extras in the bluray or something. He'll probably heal, get depressed, then kill himself within a year is my guess.

In the mood for a good horror movie?
Well keep looking because this is not it. This was terrible from the top down. Acting to the special effects. Pretty sure they used tomato sauce for blood right out of the gate in the the first terrible puzzle scene. I'm sure die hard fans will love this and while I really liked the first few movies they went cash grab early on and never came back. If there is a C rated horror movie class this fit's right in.

Puzzle Pieces!
Well, thanks to Amazon Prime I was able to marathon watch all the Saw films in order. I've seen them before but not one after anotherk in sequence. This last one has a lot of pieces to the puzzle being revealed, making more sense to the backstory of Jigsaw. The diabolical challenges were okay. Not as elaborate as the previous ones but still interesting to watch. Quite a bit of gore, which made me cringe. This isn't quite the final sequel, is it? And what about Bobby? Does Hoffman survive? I hope to see if that gets sorted out in the next Saw film, October 2017.

Great, but too many sequels
I am not a horror fan. I hate blood, guts, and gore. The reason Saw appealed to me, and the reason I watched it all the way through to the "end" is because of the psychological aspect. This review will be for the series as a whole, as each individual movie does not deserve 5 stars. The quality fluctuated among the movies and this last one was probably not the best. The first Saw was probably the best one (although that is usually the case when a movie goes on and on for ten years). I was absolutely fascinated at Jigsaw's idea of teaching his "victims" a lesson. He was going about it the wrong way, of course, by torturing them, but it was still fascinating. And even if the first was the highest quality, the fifth was my personal favorite. Jigsaw and the movie attacking the insurance industry was just so amazing. Here were my problems:1. You simply cannot orchestrate killing so many people after you are dead. No one is that good at planning ahead. That right there is the best reason for not having so many sequels.2. Jigsaw's victims are so grateful for the lessons they learned that they turn around and help him in his quest to "teach others lessons." That is, gruesome murder. That is believable ONCE. How many times did it happen by movie 7? Four?3. How does Jigsaw have all these huge, empty warehouses that he can fill will all these huge traps that the police do not know about? Is he a billionaire or what?4. The traps would never work that perfectly like clockwork the way that they do. Just the fact that the TV screens always pop on with Jigsaw's message the exact second the victim wakes up is highly unlikely. (If you watch the special features, they sometimes had trouble getting the traps to work for filming... and that's with all the people right there WITH the traps! And multiple people who built them!)Anyway, suspend your disbelief (for a ridiculous number of things), watch it for the psychological aspect, and you have an enjoyable movie franchise. I don't generally like horror, so I don't own too many horror movies, but I would probably rate this as my all-time favorite horror series. It lasted too long... they probably should have quit while they were ahead. But they still did a pretty good job, as all 7 movies kept my attention and all 7 movies went together well and connected the pieces that were missing from previous movies. That's another thing you don't often see: sometimes sequels ignore what you have previously learned, but these movies went together so perfectly, it was scary. The final problem was that this "Final Chapter" was not so final. There were still a few loose ends. Will there be an eighth chapter? Even though I have enjoyed the series, I don't really hope so... unless it actually wraps it up for good. It has to end sometime, before it wears out its welcome. Which it sort of already did. It's just that those of us who are die-hard fans need to see how it ends that we kept watching this long.

The last, and sadly it does seem to be the last, in the Saw series goes out with a very gory bang, crash and wallop.
Was 'The Final Chapter' really the end of the Saw franchise? Although the twist and turn ending does, truth be told, leave things open enough for something of a continuing story; the gap through which it could emerge is possibly a little too small, even allowing for the already stretched narrative by this point in the series. That this movie was released almost exactly six years ago now, it does look like it was the last.I'm kind of sad. Look at my reviews of all the movies from the very first onwards and you'll understand that I truly love this whole franchise. I like the way it manages to weave the past with the present, bringing old victims back into play, exploring the motivations of Jigsaw himself and the manipulation of those who come to help him. Yes, it's a latex gore-fest and I'm not usually a lover of hack'n'slash movies. Yet Saw delivers a credible and tense narrative through the blood and guts. Even the 'extreme gore' scenes are watchable (even if only through finger slits in the case of my partner) courtesy of the ever more fiendish machines involved and traps set.[SPOILER ALERT] In this 'final chapter' we get to focus once more on Detective Hoffman who is by now 101% total schizoid nutbag crazy. His focus is on revenge: against Jill Tuck who betrayed him, against Internal Affairs Agent Gibson who betrayed him, and against Bobby Dagen who betrayed the topsy turvy code of ethics that Jigsaw ultimately represents. "Live or die, make your choice."It's a shame that in this, the last movie, we only get a couple of brief cameo appearances from the long dead Jigsaw. The Tobin Bell character is surely right up there with Freddie and Jason in the horror hall of fame by now, and it would have been nice to see a little more, one last time. I get why that wouldn't have fitted the plot, why this needed to be about Hoffman at this stage of the game. But even so.What was welcome, and so long overdue, was the return of Dr Lawrence Gordon whose trials were at the centre of the very first Saw movie. Bringing him back in kind of completes the 'Circle of Death.' Once I saw him there, in the background, I kind of knew everything would be OK. Hakuna Matata indeed...

3D Blu Ray Review...
I'm guessing if you are looking to buy this 3D blu ray you are highly likely to be aware of what the saw franchise is about, so this review is mainly going to be based on the quality of the presentation.....First the film - as with all the SAW movies the deaths are gratuitous & plentiful with the wooden acting that has become a staple of the later SAW films (1 & 2 were actually quite well acted!) this is mainly due to the no name actors - I don't mean this to offend them..... But they are not household names if you know what I mean ;) the budget has been put into the wonderful contraptions which is definitely evident! The plot is actually not that bad tbh and the ending was actually pretty well thought out, though I saw (lol) it coming a mile away everyone else that watched it with me didn't - so was a twist ending on the rule of averages! The 3D presentation via a 4K upscale on a 55" tv was not too bad - depth was good, but not too gimmicky which surprised me a little, I thought there might be more things poking out towards the viewer!!! I did find that there was a weird purple/green tinge in some scenes but it was not too distracting. The movie is presented as 1:78 which means no black bars at top or bottom which I prefer for 3D playback as it helps immerse the viewer a little more than 2:35.Sound as always on a blu ray with an uncompressed 7.1 sounded awesome :)I gave the overall package a 3 out of 5 - an ok late night horror flick with average to good 3D..... Recommend a view especially for under a fiver!!!!

Getting Gory
Okay so we are back to the blood and grisly scenes again, but now I'm glad its over, Some movies should stop before they go to far and spoil it with so many. The suspense is still there and the mystery is still lingering but they have so much in common. The last one is telling you I can't think of any more ideas, The plot is survivors from the past have got to depend on each other if they are going to survive in this chilling chapter, Plenty of ideas, as how to kill everyone some are different and if you like these they are yours for the taking. Mind blowing and at last the finish of a suffering man. Excellent entertainment for the strong and hearty horror fans. Cast did the great job of living out their roles and story was fabulous, I rated this an A grade so now you be the judge and watch for yourself, so go and collect the munchies and retire to the chair and put your feet up. make sure its a dark and windy night for the extra effects, Enjoy.

SAW END TO THE SAW FILM GENRE OR IS IT ?
I purchased this blu-ray dvd in hope that it would totally blow me away & make me buy only blu-ray dvds, have yet to see it in the 3d viewing though, dont get me wrong the picture is superb quality but when i seemed to get almost like sound interference problem occuring when loud noises in film came up i wasnt very impressed atall, which i have never ever had before,so definately not a problem with the set up in my room thats for sure.Really not sure if it was just the blu-ray dvd i had or wether this happens with all of them on this release.I also ordered this on normal dvd and dont have a problem when viewed the same way, through my surround system. But anyway as far as the film is concerned great film as all the others in the genre but not convinced it really is the end,SORRY IF THAT SPOILS IT a little for any of you buying this but just being an honest reviewer is all.HOPE THIS HELPS & HAPPY SAW VIEWING ;) Sure most of you loving this film genre will buy it anyway. :)
