The Great Conversation: A Historical Introduction to Philosophy

An excellent overview of Western philosophy
I've only gotten to chapter 7 so far - the trial and death of Socrates - but this is so far an excellent overview of Western philosophy. I appreciate the neutral tone in which ideas from the past are presented, in stark contrast to other, more propagandized textbooks I've read, which clearly point you toward a certain conclusion, viewpoint, or school of thought. The information is presented in an easy-to-read format, with thought-provoking questions at the end of each section and chapter. This is an excellent resource for poor folks like me who would like to understand basic philosophy without spending a fortune in schooling. I guess it would also be fine for a beginning philosophy student as well.

Hole-punched edition botched
I bought the loose leaf edition, but the whole punching was done poorly. Only the top two of the three hole punch was done. They basically hacked off the spine of a hardbound after attempting to make hole punches through the hard bound copy. I would avoid this format and go with the hard bound copy or paperback.

Scratches everywhere, probably stored in damp warehouse kinda sad even though it was bought as “new”
