perfect for a senior cat with chronic constipation
my vet and i found this product while looking up options to help my 15+ year senior cat who struggled with chronic constipation for years. x-rays showed he was borderline megacolon but not quite. a low fiber diet and osmotic laxatives like miralax helped, but didn't provide full relief and it was easy to over- or under-dose the miralax. prn cisapride also helped, but it was just a bandaid on the larger problem. he wasn't dehydrated and his diet includes canned food with extra water to support his old kidneys.more accurately, we first found a veterinary research article about SLAB-15, a probiotic blend that showed clinically significant reduction in cat constipation and diarrhea. the combination of probiotic bacterial species in the tomlyn pre- and probiotic comes the closest to SLAB-15 of anything we could find that was also easy to purchase regularly.i've been using this product for a few months and am over the moon with how well it alleviates my senior cat's GI symptoms. he's much more comfortable now that he's not bloated, no longer strains to defecate, and no longer needs laxatives or cisapride.the powder has no smell or flavor. it dissolves well in water and i mix it into his wet food, but the powder is fine enough to shake and coat his dry food without him noticing (or at least he doesn't care).yes, this is the dog version of the product, but formula-wise, the dog and cat versions are exactly the same. with the dog version, you get twice as much product for half the price. just note that the dog sachets are 2g and the cat sachets are 1g, so a cat would get half the 2g dog packet per day. it works out to about 1/2 tsp per day, or 1/4 tsp 2x day.

Worked great for my rescue lab/collie mix
The pre-probiotic powder is great because it is odorless and is water soluable. I just sprinkle some of the power on my dogs food and mix it up with my hands and they never know its on there! I would NOT recommend putting it in water , it works best when on food. I do NOT use the quantity they recommend on the back of the packs because I think it is too much and can, in some give mudslides ( "the soft stool). My rescue had developed a autoimmune system issue with a constant snotty nose. Vet had me spending hundreds of $ monthly and finally after doing LOTS of research, I used a bit more of this on her food 1x/day and it cut the snot issue down by 75%. I cut out the meds to just in the summer an occasional Zyretc or anti-inflammatory pill and its been GREAT. Amazing how good gut health will help medical issues.

Little messy but works
Powder seemed to work well for the big guy but the after effects in the food bowl are a little messy. The packet has a pretty substantial amount of powder for a single serving and some gets left behind and hardens inside the dish. If you wash them everyday, not really an issue but if feeding kibble and wait for a few days between washings, it can be a little bit of a hassle.

Works really well!
Bought this for my 12 year old diabetic cat who developed IBD over the last few months. His poop was absolutely rotten - gloppy consistency and extra stinky.Been giving half a packet with his wet food at breakfast and dinner for about 2 weeks now. The difference in poop quality (and smell) are night and day. Poops are solid and the smell is almost normal again.Had no issues with him thinking something was in his food, so it's either flavor-free or palatable for cats. Did not raise his blood sugar either. In fact - his glucose readings have actually been better now that his IBD seems to (mostly) be in check. So if you've got a cat who's been blowing up the litterbox with runny poo and stink - try this. Sure. You can spend an extra 10 bucks on the fancy brand name probiotic, but why would you when this works so well?

Can’t recommend enough!
These were a GAME CHANGER! My Maltese will occasionally get the unexplained stomach ache & I give her a sprinkle of this on her food for a couple days & she’s good as new! My parents use this on their dogs for the same thing & it helps tremendously.

Daddy answers for his boys
I've used this probiotic for years with our prior boys, and although I cannot sctually tell you anything about taste, my boys eat their food just the same. We use Honest Kitchen's, Dehydrated Beef, Whole Grain food, with added hamburger & rice.Very few times have we had leftovers in their bowls! Do that should tell you the probiotics do not alter the taste or scent. The Shiba weighs 29# and the little mutt weighs 14#. One bag mixed in their dinner, then divied up bween them seems to do the trick.

Amazing! Positive Results Seen in Under a Week!
Took in a very ill, stray cat a few months ago. (Diabetes, IBD and other issues)Her poops would stink up the entire house and she had bad gas (combined with some deadly farts). She would also have frequent diarrhea, occasionally having bouts of vomiting as well.Within a few days of using this we could already see (and smell) a difference! Not only did this stop the terrible smell, it's quite obvious she's feeling much better as well! She plays more and has so much energy!Since starting this - no more diarrhea or vomiting, either! We are beyond grateful to have found this stuff.Ordered two boxes as expected delivery was a bit of a wait. Boxes arrived much sooner than expected, despite the distance and pandemic.Super pleased with this purchase! All 3 cats use this. 2 eat it in their wet food and the ex-stray prefers it with dry food.
