Beautiful Illustration, Beautiful Message
Soon as this book arrived, my little guy grabbed it and started going through it. He was inthralled with the illustrations and promptly asked me to read it to him. The story had a great message and it has become a frequently requested bedtime story choice.

Good story
My son loves it! Very cute story with positive themes. He asks for it frequently and even will sit and just look through the pictures on his own. Highly recommend.

Can't read the book…there is a printing error and the pages are out of order.
This book could possibly be wonderful, - but I can't honestly tell. It was hard to figure out that this was the problem because the pages aren't numbered, but that absolutely has to be it.Unfortunately, this book wasn't read and the problem wasn't discovered until after the time period in which to return the book had expired. Pretty disappointing.

[...] gives this book 4 of 5 Dolly Heads!
Seamore the Starfish is a young, quiet, little starfish who is a bit insecure about his 5-star shape and his starfishy abilities. In the book “Seamore the Starfish” by author Kristyn Fedich, Seamore looks deep inside himself to find the courage to try new activities and to gain self confidence and be proud of the starfish skin he’s in. His shape and color may not be the best for playing hide-and-seek in the ocean, but maybe there is something special about Seamore that would make him… a great football player? With the encouragement of his mom and dad, Seamore decides to try out for the ocean floor football league. Will he have the confidence to go to the first practice? Will his teammates give him a fair chance? Can Seamore make an important catch at the big game? Sit in the stands with Seamore’s family as we root him on!As a parent, I loved the characters of Seamore’s mom and dad, who convince him to give football a try, and assure him that if he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t have to do it, and also remind him that the game is all about having fun. (Some great starfish parenting right there!) My daughter, Dolly, and I absolutely loved the big and bright characters and all of the deep, bold colors and textures of the illustrations. I loved how many of the pages even have the look of being colored with crayons, which is particularly special once you note that the author is a first grade teacher; How fitting! This children’s book is directed at ages 4-9 (kindergarten through second grade). The message in this book can go beyond trying new things and finding confidence in yourself, to actually teaching an anti-bullying lesson, as one of Seamore’s teammates is not the kindest to him. at [...] Read more

Great book to start discussions
My almost-7 year old really enjoyed this book. He was able to read it unassisted (needed help with a few big words), but reading it together sparked some good discussions between us about how all bodies aren't shaped good for all things, or all kids maybe don't like all things, but having the courage to try something new is important, and fun, too! I found the language nailed the worries that kids sometimes have: what if people look at me, what if they laugh at me when I try, etc...and the reminder that trying your best is what's important. Highly recommend.
