EK Tools Heavy Duty Paper Punch, Vertical Slot, Gray

I purchased this to punch holes for long vertical blinds. Works like a charm. The holes aren’t exact to the factory stamped holes but close enough to get the job done.It punches holes easily through the thicker vinyl, and it is a heavy duty punch. It is designed well and is a fairly compact design. I would recommend this for vertical blind hole punch application without reservations.

Used with PVC 82.5 in x 3.5 in. vertical louvers (slats) sold as 9 pc. sets. Wide but short windows require multiple sets. This punch allowed me to make an additional 27 usable slats from each set. Punch inserted fully for perfect length form slat top edge. The punch is smaller than factory but works well. I used a Sharpie to mark the center before punching. I marked around new punch with a Sharpie and used an orange background to contrast new punch size versus factory. FYI, the original factory punch was not centered at 1.75 in.

As anyone with pets and vertical blinds knows, vanes will tear off the bracket it attaches to. In a pinch, if you don’t have a replacement vane, you can trim off the broken area and punch a new hole and reattach. This punch makes a retangular hole is a tiny bit too small but it still works ok.

The hole size is slightly smaller but works perfectly for vertical blinds. I tried two other hole punches. The hole size was way to big leaving a gap for sun light.This hole punch works perfectly. It cut through the blind (one at a time) with no problems.I don’t know what previous reviewers were referring to. Honestly it is what kept me from purchasing this item the first time around.Maybe this product has been upgraded? It’s sturdy metal. Like a stapler.If this product has been upgraded, the seller should relay that information in the product description.I’m a happy camper!

I realize this product is made to punch ID cards etc. However I decided to take a chance. My primary use is to punch new holes for my vertical blind broken tabs.Yes I know they sell tab repair kits however I like how I can use it in a pinchI do cut off the damaged tab 1/4 " so I can punch a new slot but it is not really noticable imoIf needed I can always rotate or opt to trade off with other vanesThe price of everything has really gone up and I believe this will save me money over time
