The Ultimate Collection

This woman sings with so much emotion and passion that seem absent in most singers and songs of today. I don't know enough Japanese to understand the lyrics but it in no way hinders my enjoyment of these songs. Even if you dont understand a word of Japanese you should give this artist a listen. You may not understand what she's singing but you'll be able to feel it instead.

Chihiro is one of the great artists of our era. She does have some newer stuff which is completely different, and a bit wild, but this is her earlier classic songs. Either way, I am an ardent fan for life. Her singing and songwriting rank with any of the greats of any time.

Thoroughly excellent CD, well worth the money.

Even if you don't know any Japanese, you will be moved by Chihiro Onitsuka's singing. Onitsuka has a voice that's powerful and full of emotion. There are so many good songs in this collection. My favorites include "Infection", "Gekkou (Moonlight)", "Memai (Dizziness)" and "We Can Go". The lyrics are often about suffering and injustice. "Gekkou", for example, begins with the words, "I am God's child, dropped onto this decayed world. How do I live on such a field?" One might think this kind of music is depressing. But the irony is that her singing is so uplifting. It's like she's breathing life into the "decayed world". Incidentally, "Gekkou" remains popular in Japan, even though the song is six years old now.This is not your typical bubblegum J-pop music. Chihiro Onitsuka is a singer of substance, with a voice that sometimes soars into the stratosphere. If you are new to Japanese music, this is a good album to get. You won't be disappointed.

Onitsuka Chihiro for the American consumer can be compared to Whitney Houston or Celine Dion when it comes to her vocal talent. Though unfortunately not many Americans know japanese, so her lyrical talent may go unappreciated. This is an artist that fell in love with American music but realized the beauty of her native language as she grew older, so you're going to hear some American influences in each song.For those of you who are familiar with japanese music, then this is a definate buy. Onitsuka's voice is unlike many JPOP idols, as it sounds and feels very mature and simply beautiful. Great relaxation music for people who like to keep the stereo playing while you're doing something else. I recomend this title highly.

以前、買ったCDが、汚れたので、買い直しました。人生どん底の時、独りで、何度も聴いて、涙しました。誰にも分かってもらえない辛い気持ちが、上手く歌になっていると思います。仕事で失敗した時など、今でも、聴きたい１枚です。

Und mit ihrer Körpersprache verleiht sie ihrer Musik und (Live-)Auftritten eine besondere Ausdrucksform. So treffen zwei wichtige kulturelle und musikalische Phänomene aufeinander, die einen sofort ganzheitlich erobern und in ihren Bann ziehen! Chihiro Onitsuka ist imstande mit ihrer Musik eine außergewöhnliche Innovationskraft, einen eigenen Lebensstil zu entfalten, der den Zuhörer in Erstaunen und herzliche Freude versetzt! Ich kann sie nur jeden Musikliebhaber, der auf der Suche nach etwas Besonderem ist wärmstens ans Herz legen.

鬼塚さんは「月光」での「I am god child」の歌詞が強烈に残ってる人もいると思いますが、「眩暈」や「流星群」「私とワルツを」「Infection」などでは他の人では真似のできない詞を書き、また本人もそれを伸びやかに歌っていると思います。このベストの発売の経緯はあまり望ましいものではありませんでしたが、結果的には「私とワルツを」「Sign」など当時アルバム未収録だった曲が入って良かったのではないかと思います。選曲は「Cage」とか「LITTLE BEAT RIFLE」みたいなやや陰に隠れたシングル曲も入っていればなお良かったのではと思いました。

鬼束ちひろのCDは一度も買ったことがなかったものの、「私とワルツを」「茨の海」「月光」の３曲が気になっていたので購入してみました。入門編？という感じです。レビューでは散々に叩かれていますが、私も「あれ？」という感覚でした。テレビなどで聞いていた彼女の歌声とは違うような…もっと重厚感があったような。それでも目当ての３曲を手に入れられたので、満足といえば満足です。

昔から鬼束ちひろが好きで特に「月光」や「目眩」は癒されますね。

石に刻み込むような荒々しさを顕す詩と、対照的に、天空に満ち溢れるような清純な歌声。羽毛田氏の監修によるこのアルバムは鬼束ちひろの声に対する鎮魂歌である。透き通った倍音を持った彼女の声質がいつから変化したのかは知らない。しかし、「育つ雑草」以前と、以後とでは明らかに声質が異なる。声質に対する好みは人それぞれであろうが、もう二度とあの歌声は聴けないと思う。そのことを誰よりも悲しく思ったのは、羽毛田氏なのではないだろうか？このアルバムには、そのかつての鬼束ちひろの声に対する、羽毛田氏の深い愛着が感じられる。選曲といい、録音による声の歪を極力排除したようなリマスタリングといい、鬼束ちひろの声に対する深い思いが詰まっている。リマスタリングによって音質に迫力がなくなったとみる向きもあろうが、かつてこのように素晴らしい声を持った歌手がいたのだという、道標のようなアルバム。感動を呼ぶという意味では、最高のものではない。本当の鬼束ちひろの魅力はは別にあると私は感じるが、このようなアルバムはもう二度と作れないという意味で、エポックメイキングなのである。

久々に聞いてみたくなって購入しました。声も歌詞もやっぱり最高です。

鬼束ちひろファンは持っていて欲しい一枚です！癒されます！！！

私は彼女のファンではないので、彼女の歴史は知らないのですが、このアルバムの完成度はかなりのものだと思います。素晴らしい詞に、透き通った声とピアノの音がとても良く合っていて、「infection」や「私とワルツを」、特に「茨の海」を聴くと、鳥肌が立ちました。買ってみる価値はあると思います。

「月光」と「眩暈」しか知りませんでしたが何か、ね。一曲目（流星群）でヤラレました。あーまた泣けてきた。

はじめて鬼束ちひろのレコードを購入しましたがきれいな曲が多くファンになりました。

若き日のちひろさんのほうがパワーあったと思うなぁ。これはこれでしみじみと聞かせてくれていいです。

このＣＤの４曲目「月光」と５曲目「infection」を続けて聞くと、私は「どうしても」号泣してしまう。もうひとつのベスト盤（シングル集）とは違うものがここにはある。それだけでも買って損は無い。ふたつのベスト盤には私の好きな「Tiger in my heart」が入っていないのが残念。アルバム「Sugar High」で聴けるけど。兎に角、引退しなかったのが救い。彼女の唄は不滅だから。

ピアノの響きも美しく、ボーカルのクリップ感もなくなって、大変聞き易くなっています。低音域もある程度のところでカットされているようです。反面、鬼束ちひろが醸し出す情念は、薄められたような印象です。イージーリスニング鬼束ちひろ。インソムニアと聞き比べるとはっきりと解ります。駄目だわ。これ。
