Good reference material
The book arrived earlier than anticipated. That being said, the book is a good reference on what the average French soldier looked like at the start of World War Two during the Phoney War and the Battle of France. Covers everyone from the average infantryman, general officers, cadets at military academies, armor troops, supply, colonial troops, and sailors and marines. Doesn't go into depth over what each piece of equipment is, but gives an overall look at the various uniforms.

Excellent
An absolute must for the early war scholar or bolt action gamer. Almost every branch of the French service is covered including colonial troops and has detailed illustrations of equipment and badges of the French army, and even some civilian corps.

WW2 French uniforms
I needed and wanted to see what these uniforms would beand how they compared to American ones of the sameperiod. I was not disappointed. This album consists ofclear illustrations, virtually no text. A list of ranks wouldhave been a plus, but I found that list elsewhere. Awell-done presentation by type of work assigned tothe troops at the start of WW2.

French WWII transition uniforms
Fine book on French uniforms that goes beyond Mollo's uniforms book on WWII. Excellent presentation. A good companion to the WWI book and the 1870s period books also available on Amazon

Good basic source
I had the companion volume and so was eager to make up the set. The format is simple and it's a good companion to the Osprey titles on the French Army. I would have liked more details but this is essentially a pictorial work and a good aid for modellers/toy soldier collectors. The uniform colours are excellent although it would have been better if the figures were more animated. A supplementary work only. I would like to have seen it combined with Paul Gaujacs work on the CEF, or like titles.
