HydorPump Koralia 3 Gen Aquarium Heater, 2450 GPH, Black

The media could not be loaded. They are a little bigger than I thought. Plus not as powerful as expected for the size. However they seem to work beautifully. Will keep updating as time goes on.

Koralia 3G pumps are the cream of the crop. I use three 1350gph in my 60g cube and they keep the water moving with good turbulent flow. The interchangeable front grill options are very useful but I tend to stick with the most flow. They are completely silent, easily placed, and the turbines last longer than some of the older Koralia models. A key feature to me is that due to the design they seem to be resistant of algal growth. The older models had a tendency to be a hotspot for algae to grow, but the design of these seems to restrict that tendency.

Arrived on 11/2/20. I put 2 of these 3rd Gen. Hydors in my 125g. The magnets are weaker than the previous gen. Hydor and because of that I had to put both on the same side of my aquarium. The older Hydor magnets were stronger and I was able to have 1 on each side because it was strong enough to hang on when 1 of the cords had to be routed around my overflow box. Meaning, if you put any strain on the power cord it will pop out of position EASILY unless you have the older Hydor. I have the 1350gph models and I do not use any of the guards for a maximum flow of 1350gph. It seems to be enough to do the job I need it to do. It seems weak because it is designed for a more diffused flow instead of a more direct flow like on the older Hydor. I need enough circulation to keep my water clear on this 6 foot long tank and these Hydors give it the extra circulation that I needed. Without them my water would not be as crystal clear as it is now. I have other pumps circulating water but these Hydors help give it the extra flow needed to get the job done for me. I try to position everything to make the water flow clockwise and upwards. Minus 1 star for weak magnets. I am hoping that the impellers are better made than the previous gen. ones because the older impellers were the weak parts that broke first. May update this post later on.

Moves water great. Using in a 55 gallon aquarium. Water current reaches across the entire span of the tank. Fish like to play and swim up the current. Also helps keep detritus off the substrate and moving towards the filter. Great for surface agitation. Strong magnets keep the unit in place and you can barely hear it when it’s on.

I purchased the 1350 GPH model about 8 months ago for my 120 gallon planted aquarium and this pump isn’t well suited for it. With plant leaves that detach and float around the durability of the pump to keep from clogging is important to me. This pump moves a nice amount of water and is quiet but it’s almost immediately fouled with just a leaf or two that wrap around the impeller. Then it just spins without moving water. Any debris seems to shut off its water flow. I gave up cleaning it all the time and am looking for an alternative.I also used multiple Koralia Evolution pump models from this manufacturer and the water flow is good and the the durability is excellent, will keep flowing even when covered with a few loose leaves, but that model starts to make a clicking noise just a few months which becomes irritating over time. Thought my first was just worn out after a year and replaced but the new one did the same after a few months.

I ordered 2 of the 3G 60701149 models for my 75g African Cichlid tank. I figured this would be absolutely plenty of power, if not over powerful. The description claims 1,350gph rate. This is simply IMPOSSIBLE as they do not even put out the same flow as my previous Hydor Koralia 3 (10w, Qmax) with only 850gph!!Absolutely false advertisement and so incredibly frustrating to deal with an exchange simply because they lie, or “pad” the stats. And to even get the full 1350gph rate claimed, you cannot use ANY of the fish guards or you’ll automatically get less output even with the highest flow option!!! It would be insane to use one of these without a guard of some kind in place for your fish. So, you automatically get less than you paid for out of the box.Returning these to get the highest output option to see if these makes it come even close to my previous powerheads… Very unhappy & frustrated. Expected way more out of you Hydor. I should have believed the other reviews that explained exactly this same issue.Update to this review may come after the new ones arrive. Who knows. Will probably be the same story.****Edit/Update: the higher output option was only slightly better. However, the first 2 purchased were defective within a week. Sent in for a replacement and the SECOND PAIR was also defective, whether it be they would inconsistently choose when to turn actually turn on, or would shut off on their own, or the noise/rattling/screeching was incessant just like the first two! Absolutely the worst purchase I’ve made on Amazon and 3….THREE… exchange/returns later, I decided to take a chance on getting two Jebao SOW-15’s based on reviews and I have not had a single issue from day one AND have some awesome programming options with the DC controller built in! Absolutely silent too! The one and only good thing I have to say about this Hydor product is that I was able to get my money back. (Thanks Amazon!)Do. Not. Buy!

Just received my new 3rd Generation Pump! Small footprint for 2450 GPH. Just WOW!!! Love the new magnetic design for mounting and silent operation, currently running on my Hydor Smartwave Controller. Bye Bye irritating start up noise and HeLLo future generation of circulation pumps!!!
