I was a little disappointed by this book. I was hoping for a kind of "style guide" with tips, and photos of great outfits I could wear. There were (in the first part of the book) quite a few photos of nice outfits, but I am always looking for ideas for outfits which do not involve high heels, and there weren't many here. It is hard to find these since the fashion magazines seem always to show high heels. I live in Manhattan and need to be able to walk around, take my son to school. etc, so I need mostly flat or low heels. The author, after saying that she herself did not really wear high heels except in the evenings, showed high heels in about 95 per cent of the photos!The rest of the book was really general musings and a summary of her romantic history. The interviews with stylish people did not shed much light on being stylish (saying things like, "style comes from within", which doesn't mean much).

I like Garance, so obviously I enjoyed her book. This book should be taken lightly however. Some of these reviewers have very serious, but understandable critiques about her. With that said, if you read her blog, this might be redundant. The price of the book should be cheaper for what it is. The only thing I don't like about it is her attitude about her new found success, especially since in her world, is attributed greatly to who she knows. I'm not saying she didn't earn it, but coming into your office late in the afternoon and complaining about your assistant for having a bad day/not smiling is not very attractive or inspiring. Her saving grace is that she's deprecating.

I love Garance Dore for her blog and how she shares her process and evolution so honestly! I admire her for just being herself, perfectly imperfect and wonderful! She has come such a long way and been brave to do so. There is much to admire here and the book is an enjoyable read in her voice with some great images and advice from brilliant and successful women in fashion! Thank you Garance for your candor, your exuberance, and for sharing your challenges which you overcome in the most intriguing and innovative ways! If finding your own way in the world, happiness and being comfortable in your own skin are important to you then you might enjoy this book as much as I did! ;)

I am a royal fan of Garance Dore. I have been following her blog, snapchat, instagram, her goods for almost 6 years. While I love all her smart and funny remarks and perspective on lots of matters, I found it hard to follow this book. However, it is somewhat similar to her blogpost. But this is her, I am guessing she stays true to herself which is one of the idea she consistantly delivers through out the book. From a graphic design and illustration point of view, this book is beautiful, modern, and elegant, just like Garance Dore. This book, for me, is to stay for years to take down the shelf and admire the illustration and layout once a while; however, I don't think I will reread it once I finish.

I did not know of Garance before this book, but now I'm a huge fan. Maybe it's her writing style or her life's lessons learned (probably both) (yes definitely both) but I love this book and everything about it. Girl is funny. And awesome. And do you think she'd have coffee with me?A plus is definitely her illustrations throughout. I think I've found new art to put on my gallery wall (in my mind bc at this rate my gallery wall will never be a thing). Oops this is about the book and I'm ranting.I RECOMMEND IT.

not only is this book easy to read (just like her blog), but the tips and advice that are offered are out of this world. yes, a lot of the brands that she says she has as her "basics" are expensive, but go to any store or boutique and you can find a similar style for less. my 2016 resolution has nothing to do with fitness, but rather upgrading my style and skincare/makeup and this book was an awesome start to helping that.

Wenn man keine Lebenserfahrung noch gesammelt hat und keine Ahnung von einfache menschliche Beziehungen hat und/oder über keinen Modegeschmack verfügt und/oder braucht 100 billige Liebe-Tipps, oder wenn man eine teuere, dicke und schwere Frauenzeitschrift um sich zum Tode leingeweilen zu dürfen sucht - dann hier kann man nichts falsch machen!Ein extrem überbewertetes Buch, das außer die schöne Druckqualität und hochwertiges Papier nichts weiteres anbieten kann! Sehr enttäuschend!

Seguo il suo blog da anni e quando è uscito il libro mi sono subito incuriosita e l'ho acquistato. Sebbene a tratti sia un pò banale, specialmente la parte delle "cose che una ragazza chic deve avere per forza nell'armadio" ( chi di noi non ha almeno una camicia bianca!?) l'ho trovato comunque delizioso. La grafica è poi tipica di Garance, molto pulita e femminile. Le foto sono molto belle e ci sono alcuni aneddoti veramente divertenti. Se vi piace il genere libro fotografico- parisian style allora questo è il libro che fa per voi!

Es un libro al que le tenía ganas desde hace tiempo. No aporta nada nuevo pero es interesante conocer la opinión de Garance respecto a diferentes aspectos de la moda, la belleza y la vida.Fotos muy chulas y en general un libro para pasar un buen rato.

A fun, gossipy read. Not a great fashion voice or writer but a good read with really great parts but some trash bits. a must have if you follow The Sartorialist.

A nice book to have laying around. Guests love a quick flick through the pages. Love the illustrations and story telling.
